April 7, 2019 10:15 a.m. ORGAN PRELUDE Randy Woods, Minister of Worship & Music WELCOME Don Pullen, Associate Pastor CALL TO WORSHIP Neal Clarke (Coquina) *SING GOD S PRAISE Hymn #605 And Can It Be

AFFIRMATION OF OUR FAITH The Nicene Creed We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten from the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and was made human. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried. The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will never end. And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life. He proceeds from the Father and the Son, and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified. He spoke through the prophets. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and to life in the world to come. Amen. Hymn #583 Jesus Paid It All

PRAYER OF PRAISE & PETITION Don Pullen, Associate Pastor GIVING OF OUR TITHES AND OFFERINGS PIANO OFFERTORY Janice Peoples (Eagles Preserve) OUR BLOODY HISTORY Andy Hawkins, Senior Pastor THE LORD S SUPPER CHORAL MINISTRY Bread of Life J. Raney At this table, Lord, we lay our burdens down; at your feet we humbly kneel to pray. At the foot of the cross, we contemplate the cost as we share this feast today. Lord, break your bread of life for me; feed my hunger, Set my spirit free; pour out your grace on me. Lord, fill my cup from the fountain of your love. Open my eyes that I might see; break your bread of life, Lord, for me. At this table, Lord, we renew our strength;

from this cup we drink of boundless grace. Teach us, Lord, how to share the bounty of your care when we leave this holy place. We worship you, Lord of might and majesty. We pray for your guidance from above. We remember the sacrifice on Calvary. We thank you for your never-ending love. *SING GOD S PRAISE Hymn #445 There Is a Fountain Hymn#188 Man of Sorrows! Recent recipients include: Gladiolus Learning & Development Center, Lifeline Family Center, Path2Freedom, South Fort Myers Food Pantry and church members in need. SHELL POINT SPLASH 2019 VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held July 22 26 for children and grandchildren of Shell Point employees. This will be a fun-filled week of recreational activities, Bible stories, games, snacks, music, arts and crafts, and much more. The Village Church is responsible for 12:00 3:00 each day, which will include singing, a Bible lesson and interactive activities that reinforce the biblical story. We will need help to make this a fun and rewarding opportunity for the kids. An informational meeting for those thinking about helping will be held today at 5:15 p.m. in the Hospitality Room. If you have any questions, please see Pastor Don or Karen Solomon. Please pray that the Lord would bless this unique event! MOVIE NIGHT will be held tomorrow at 6:45 p.m. in the Social Center. Join friends as you view God s Not Dead 3 A Light in Darkness. Even in life's darkest valleys, a small flame can light the way toward healing and hope. After a deadly fire rips through St. James Church, Hadleigh University leaders use the tragedy to push the congregation off campus, forcing the church to defend its rights and bringing together estranged brothers to address issues that pulled them apart. We see how even with the tragic loss of life God used it for good.

UPCOMING TOUR: Is a faith-building visit to the Holy Land on your bucket list? Some who attend The Village Church are in the exploratory stages of determining interest in a 13-day tour of Israel and Jordan in the spring of 2020 led by Jim Suddath, a pastor who has taken a number of groups to the Holy Land. The cost is estimated at $5,500 per person. If this piques your interest, contact Jane Hoden (MJHoden@aol.com) or Pastor Don by April 10. If enough show an interest, the next step would be an informational meeting. STUDY WITH THE PASTOR -- Anyone who is participating or would like to participate in Study with the Pastor by using the Scripture Union devotional Encounter with God are invited to an interactive gathering Monday, April 15, at 10:15 a.m. in the Hospitality Room. Bring a favorite observation or blessing you have received from the devotional to share with the group, or even a question for the Pastor. Materials are available; the cost is $5 per quarter. IN FIRST QUARTER 2019, the South Fort Myers Food Pantry distributed approximately 131,123 pounds of food to 1,817 clients, which represents 5,819 family members. Thank you for your donations to the Benevolence Fund which help to support this effort. EMBRACING A NEW KIND OF NORMAL LADIES SPRING MINI-RETREAT: Invite your friends for a day of humor, encouragement and hope with best-selling Christian author, Carol Kent on Wednesday, May 15, from 9:15 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. In her book, When I Lay My Isaac Down, she shares the

journey back to hope that she and her husband shared in the face of deep family tragedy. Carol s experiences will challenge everyone to examine how God wants to be involved in the difficulties and challenges we face in life. Tickets (which include lunch) are $15, and will be available before and after services (except Easter Sunday) beginning today. Tickets may also be purchased at the church office during regular office hours. CHRISTIAN LIFE STUDIES: April 14 May 19 DRAWING NEAR invites you to explore a life of intimacy with God. Emphasizing the need for obedience, we are urged to practice just as we would anything we hope to improve our communication with the Holy Spirit. Understanding that prayer is a dialogue, not a monologue, Bevere encourages us to listen at the Father s feet. Study questions in each chapter offer opportunity for reflection. Facilitators: David & Eleanor Perkins w Location: Chapel THE LIVING WORD is an ongoing study of Acts, which is the history of the spread of Christ s church throughout the ancient world. Following the resurrection of Christ, the disciples, filled with the Holy Spirit, were transformed from cowering men into men of action intent on sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Join this excursion into miracles, persecution, murder, trials, shipwrecks, beatings and adventures. Facilitators: Peyton Moore & Lou Gerig w Location: Library
