*Closing Song: In Christ Alone *Postlude 7:00 PM Combined Memorial Day Worship Service @ Bethel CRC Worship Notes Today we celebrate God's goodness through the baptism of Kase Buwalda (son of Kevin and Andrea) and we see God's faithfulness in the professions of faith by Ryan Root, Lynnae Smits, and Dylan Vander Berg. God is good all the time and all the time... Tonight we worship at Bethel CRC for our combined Memorial Day service. Come and remember what God has done and see what He calls us to do. Thursday evening join us at Alto CRC for the Annual Ascension Day Service at 7 PM. Next Sunday we give thanks for our graduates. As we look back on the years we find how God has guided and gifted them. Now we pray that God will continue to show them His will for their lives. We will also be looking at the parable of the talents. In this parable Jesus shows that each of us have talents. Graduates will be going into this world with a variety of talents and will have to choose what to do with them. Will they make full use of them or hide them. It's a challenge for all of us. The result is either incredible reward or terrible judgment. Verse of the week: We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:4 This week be in prayer for: - instability in Thailand and Ukraine - the women captured in Nigeria - those dealing with the effects of abortion - those who have been nominated for elder and deacon Give thanks for: - another school year ending - good weather for planting - good health

If you would like to participate in this way please contact Marilyn Mulder, Michelle Mulder or Cassie Holden. The fellowship committee is looking for individuals that are interested in planning fun social activities for church members. The committee is hoping to get up to four individuals or groups of people interested to divide up the responsibility. Typically we have one fun event each season. In the past we have done bowling events in the spring and fall, an outing of some sort in the summer and a Christmas event. If we would have four individuals, couples or other groups of people we could separate the events, so people would only need to organize one event per year. So if you are an organizer or a fun social person who wants to create ways to bring laughter and entertainment to 1st CRC talk to Rhonda Schouten or Scott or Jenny Ritzema, or sign up for the fellowship committee on your ministry surveys. The Worship Committee is looking for new members. This committee meets once a month to plan for upcoming services, including song selections and readings. The committee also works on plans that arise during the year with special services as well as encouraging members to use their gifts in the worship service. The work on this committee is a group effort and not one person's job alone. It does not require any special knowledge or experience, just a desire to serve the church and enhance the services. If God is calling you to be a part of this exciting area please fill out the ministry survey and mark the category marked Worship Committee or talk to Pastor Craig or Renae or Kim Venhuizen. There is still room at Camp Calvin for anyone entering grades 4-9 this fall who would like to attend June 16-21. Register online at http://www.campcalvin.com/. Health forms and final payment are due May 20.

Proclaiming Evidence for Truth THIS WEEK'S CREATION MOMENT Seeing Eye Fish I will praise [thee], O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. Psalm 9:1b The relationship between the snapping shrimp and a fish called the goby is a good example of the Creator's attention to the finest detail. The snapping shrimp has very poor eyesight, while the goby has excellent eyesight. Both share the same burrow, which is dug by the shrimp and guarded by the goby. The shrimp uses the goby as a blind person uses a Seeing Eye dog. Whenever the shrimp is outside its burrow, it always keeps one antenna on the goby. Neither the goby nor the shrimp can survive without each other, so pairs are established for life when both goby and shrimp are very young. For this system to work, both goby and shrimp reproductive systems, which differ greatly, are synchronized so that shrimp and goby youngsters are ready to pair at the same time. This astonishing relationship shows us how our Creator's standards of excellence bring His love to every corner of the creation. Prayer: Father in heaven, I thank You for the comfort of knowing that nothing in the creation is too unimportant for Your loving attention. In Jesus' Name. Amen. Ref: Yanagisawa, Y. 1990.
