902Worship Application We re excited that you re interested in being a part of the worship team at 902 Church! It is a fun, challenging, and rewarding ministry. If God has gifted you with musical or technical talent, we want you to be able to use it for His glory! This is a somewhat complex ministry with many moving parts. So for your advantage, and that of the worship ministry as a whole, there is a short process to become a regularly scheduled member of the worship team. Here are the first few steps Prayerfully consider your involvement. Please read the following information in its entirety (There is a lot of important information that you will need to know). Fill out the application below and submit it to Pastor Luke Voth. We will contact you about your application and a scheduled audition time. Questions are welcome. Luke Voth Worship Pastor lukevoth@902church.org

902Worship Vision The vision of 902Worship is to be a presence driven worship team that combines musical and spiritual excellence to inspire others to engage in corporate worship. We will know we are successful by these elements: We intimately know and understand how to host the presence of the Lord on a personal level and how to lead others into His presence by following Holy Spirit. We are constantly and consistently growing in our musical abilities and seeking excellence, not perfection. Practicing, listening to new worship music etc. We are constantly and consistently preparing ourselves to lead worship by living worship. Seeking the Lord personally through prayer and staying rooted in the Bible. We are able to engage our congregation and lead them into biblical expressions of worship where we see that they are actively responding and participating in the presence of God. *What does it mean to be presence driven? -In all that we do as a worship team, we will seek His presence above all else. Matt. 6:33 *What is musical excellence? -As members of the 902Worship team, we will constantly demand the best from ourselves. Not perfection. We will practice weekly, listen to current music and continually develop a modern style of play/vocals/instrumental tone etc. *What is spiritual excellence? -As members of the 902Worship team, we will maintain an intimate relationship with Jesus and will be rooted in the Bible(Spirit&Truth John 4:24). Our confidence will not be in our musical ability but rather in our ability to follow the Holy Spirit and to know His voice.

*What does it mean to engage in corporate worship? -To participate and/or respond to His presence through biblical expressions of worship in a personal and interpersonal(corporate) manner- There s an element of worship and Christianity that cannot be experienced in private worship or by watching worship. There are some graces and blessings that God gives only in the meeting together with other believers -Don Whitney In keeping with the overall ministry approach of 902Church, the 902Worship music ministry will be contemporary and cutting edge both musically and culturally. Expectations of Team Members Be on time to all scheduled events. Sundays @8a, Thursdays @6:30p etc. Each team member should be on stage ready to go by the scheduled start time. This includes tuning, setting up equipment and ipads etc. Use Planning Center in a proactive manner. Confirm, decline etc. Also, please give proper notice of scheduled absence ASAP so someone else can be scheduled if need be. The schedule is forecasted a month in advance so be sure to check it consistently to see when you re scheduled. Our commitment to leading worship costs us something. We all know how much practice time it takes for us to feel confident and ready to lead. If you ever feel that the busyness of your personal life priorities are starting to interfere with your ability to feel confident in your preparation, please communicate with me and we can tweak whatever we need to better suit your circumstance.

Be well rehearsed and know YOUR part(s).i typically will attach YouTube links to each song weekly. The link that I attach is the version that I am asking you to learn and be familiar with. I will also be expecting it. If you are having problems learning your part please contact me ASAP and we will work something out. Thursday rehearsals are for the purpose of practicing as a team, not individually. Be a team player and seek to improve those around you. Be ready and willing to help other team members progress musically and/or spiritually. The worship team is one of the most visible ministries of the church. Therefore, it is important that members of the worship team see themselves as representatives of Jesus Christ and the church at all times. In their personal lives, worship team members will be expected to live by the highest standards of moral purity, ethical integrity and corporate unity. I personally believe that you can only hold people accountable for what you have clearly communicated to them. Once I have communicated expectations I will hold you to them.

Team Commitment We want worship to be simple. Accessible. Singing to God with a sincere heart does not have or need to be complex. With that said there is a certain level of preparation, planning, and practice that goes into making each and every worship service simple. Because of this, there is a certain level of commitment that is required from the worship team that exceeds other ministries. This commitment can take on many forms. Here are a few practical areas where level of commitment is most evident. One Year Commitment: We ask all prospective team members to make a one year commitment to the worship team without stepping away for a season or taking an extended break etc. Because of this, it is vitally important for you to take some time to pray for and evaluate as to how much of a commitment you can make. Be sure not to overcommit if you have a family etc. Unforeseen circumstances may arise but once a commitment has been made and agreed upon you will be held accountable to it. Spiritual Preparation: Worship on a platform is the overflow of a lifestyle of worship and a heart that is well-cultivated throughout the week. Psalm 87:7 Personal spiritual intimacy with Jesus is our FIRST priority. One hour on a Sunday morning is a mere.6% of a week. If the only time you worship is.6% of your week, something is wrong. How can we lead people where we haven t gone ourselves? Musical Preparation: Rehearsals are infinitely smoother when everyone has listened to, practiced with and memorized the scheduled music. Being prepared also means having any gear or equipment that you intend to use on Sunday with you for practice (lyric sheets or chord charts are provided on Planning Center Online more on this later). Unless otherwise posted, you are expected to learn your parts exactly like the link(s), giving special attention to the tonal

qualities of each instrument. For teamwork to happen effectively, we rely on you to play your part accordingly. Attitude: When ideas or suggestions are presented and received with a good attitude, the results are monumental for effective team building. If there are technical, musical or miscellaneous complications, keep attitudes positive and morale high. Be open to the constructive criticism of the worship pastor or band leader. They are trying to pull out every bit of greatness in you they can find, so be patient and receptive of constructive feedback. Punctuality: Everyone s time is valuable. It s important that everyone be punctual for rehearsals so that we can use our limited time as efficiently as possible. Arriving early is always a great idea. We are very serious about punctuality. Being on time is a respect issue. Tardiness communicates a lack of respect for your colleagues, for 902W, and for the Lord. If an unexpected situation arises and you know you will be late, please communicate as quickly as possible with the worship pastor or leader. Dress: 902W has a very relaxed unofficial dress code. However, there are a few basic requirements. Cleavage, and the mid-section should be completely covered at all times. Skirts are allowed but should come down to the knee. Any article of clothing with questionable text or graphics should not be worn. We want everyone s focus to be on God. Anything that takes focus off of Him is a hindrance to our ultimate goal. Should your choice of clothing not meet this standard, you will not be able to lead until it has been resolved. This decision is up to the pastor or the worship pastor. Flexibility: The worship pastor and/or band leader always tries to give adequate notice of schedule or setlist changes. While it is not uncommon for these changes to take place, it is only done when necessary. It is recommended that you periodically check back with Planning Center to view any potential changes.

Audition Process Once you submit your application, the Worship Pastor will contact you to arrange an audition time. He will communicate with you prior to the rehearsal about the song or songs for your audition. Usually we ask that you learn one or two songs from the setlist for that particular weekend. Auditions are, by nature, a little intimidating. We will try to make the process as relaxed as possible. In some cases, it may be evident that an applicant s skills have not developed enough to serve on a regularly scheduled basis. Should this be the case, those conducting the audition will give some advice on how the applicant can improve. After some time and practice another audition may be scheduled. Additional Steps Before you begin serving on the weekend, we ask that you come and hang out with the worship team during rehearsals for several weeks. There are a few reasons for this. Rehearsals cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time. Being a spectator will allow you to see first-hand how rehearsals flow. When you know what to expect at rehearsal, it will allow you to be better prepared when it is your turn. It may help you to be more relaxed. Playing or singing with a new group of people can cause some to be nervous. Having multiple chances to meet those you will be serving alongside should calm your nerves. An additional step will be to have the staff set up an account for you on www.planningcenteronline.com. This is an online service planning website where band members, songs and service flow are scheduled and posted. It allows worship team members to access chord charts and lyric sheets as well as links to songs we will be using in worship.

After your account is set up and you have access to the resources you need, you re ready to go. The Worship Pastor is in charge of scheduling vocalists and instrumentalists. The frequency with which you are scheduled will depend on how many applicants are ahead of you and the information you provide on the application (i.e. experience, availability). Your Information Name: Phone number Email: Address: Date of Birth: Position(s) applying for:(primary Instrument) Additional Instruments: How much experience at listed position(s)? Have you served on a worship team previously? If so, where and for how long? Under what circumstances did you leave the team? What style of music do you prefer to play?

902Worship uses a click track(metronome) for every song. We also use loop tracks on a regular basis. Because of this, you will be required to wear/use in-ear monitors. Are you willing/able to play with a click/loop? Do you have experience playing with a click/loop? Are you willing/able to play with in-ear monitors exclusively? Do you have experience using in-ear monitors? Briefly describe your salvation experience through Jesus. Briefly share what God is currently doing in your life. Do you feel that you are at a musical level that is consistent with 902W s current standard of excellence? How often per month can you commit to being scheduled? One Sunday Two Sundays As Often As Possible

Vocalists Do you have a natural ear for picking out harmony parts? Briefly describe your comfort level/ability in leading corporate worship? Are you comfortable leading a song off the page, i.e. spontaneous worship? Are you comfortable leading a band? All Applicants Please Sign Below Before Submitting Application I have read the above information in it s entirety and agree to abide by the commitments and expectations therein. I have read the 902Worship vision statement and believe that I can put my heart into helping achieve this common goal. I understand that my role on the worship team is to serve first. I am making a prayerful commitment to serve on the worship team in a reasonable capacity for one year. Sign: Date: Please submit application to Pastor Luke Voth.
