Gathering God calls us together to offer praise, acknowledge sin, and celebrate our adoption as forgiven children. Prelude Concerto Grosso No. 8 in G Minor Arcangelo Corelli Allegro e Largo (Pastorale) *Introit He Came Down Hymn 137 Soloist and congregation alternate verses At the sign * you may stand. Hymn indicates the red pew hymnal Glory to God. *Call to Worship Psalm 80:18-19 Bold text is read or sung in unison. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts. Then we will never turn back from you. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts. Give us life, and we will call on your name. Restore us, O Lord God of hosts. Let your face shine, that we may be saved. Come, people of God, let us worship God! *Opening Hymn O Come, O Come, Emmanuel Hymn 88 Verses 1, 6, and 7 Prayer of Confession Merciful God, God with us, God for us, along this journey of faith, we confess our wanderings to you. We ignore your presence in our lives and fail to see the face of Christ in those we encounter along the way. We are often distracted by our busyness and neglect to prepare for the Christ Child in our hearts. Forgive us, God. Draw near to us once again. By your grace help us to receive you with joy like the shepherds, with obedience like Mary, and with persistence like the Magi. In the power of your Holy Spirit, we yearn to make a place for you within and among us. Come, Lord Jesus, quickly come. Amen. 1

Come and behold him, born the King of angels! O come, let us adore him; O come, let us adore him; O come, let us adore him, Christ, the Lord! Thanksgiving We respond by presenting our offerings, setting the table, lifting prayers, and praising the triune God. *Sermon Hymn It Came Upon the Midnight Clear Hymn 123 Offertory Magnificat Dietrich Buxtehude Luke 1:46-55 and Gloria Patri Magnificat anima mea Dominum. Et exultavit spiritus mesu in Deo salutari meo. Quia respexit humilitatem ancillae suae: ecce enim ex hoc beatam me dicent omnes generationes. Quia fecit mihi magna qui potens est: et sanctam nomen ejus. Et misericordia ejus a progenie in progenies timentiubs eum. Fecit potentiam in bracchio suo: dispersit superbos mente cordis sui. Deposuit potentes de sede, et exaltavit humiles. Esurientes implevit bonis: et divites dimisit inanes. Suscepit Israel puerum suum, Recordatus misericordiae suae. Sicut locutus est ad patres nostros, Abraham et semini ejus in saecula. Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto. Sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper, et in saecula saeculorum. Amen. My soul magnifies the Lord. And my spirit has rejoiced in God my savior. For God has regarded the lowliness of his handmaiden: for behold, from henceforth blessed shall all generations call me. For God has done great things to me, God who is mighty, and holy is God s name. And God s mercy is on them who from generation to generation fear the Lord. God has shown strength with his arm; God has scattered the proud, the arrogant of heart. God has deposed the mighty from their seats and exalted the humble. The hungry have been filled with good things, and the rich sent away empty. God has helped servant Israel, in remembrance of God s mercy. As it was spoken to our ancestors, to Abraham and his seed forever. Glory to the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. 3
Sacrament of the Lord s Supper We invite all followers of Jesus Christ to the table. Pass the tray to your neighbor, who will hold it for you as you receive the bread and grape juice. Cups on the bread tray hold gluten-free bread. Invitation Great Prayer of Thanksgiving The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise. Therefore, we praise you, joining our voices with the great choir of angels and all the faithful in every time and place: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory! Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Therefore, we proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again. Words of Institution Sharing of the Bread Lo, How a Rose E er Blooming Hymn 129 Sharing of the Cup Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence Hymn 347 Concluding Prayer Sending We follow the Word into the world, sent forth with God s blessing to lives of service and love. *Benediction 4
