LIBERTY RINGS Pastor s Paragraph Newsletter LIBERTY BAPTIST CHURCH January 2019 Dear Liberty Family, As we enter 2019 it s a good time to consider the things we need to continue and the things we need to change in our Christian lives. We often refer to New Year s Resolutions as those goals we make for ourselves and our families. You may or may not be in the habit of making such resolutions, but I can assure you that they are worth making and keeping. Life is largely the product of our choices and habits. I would ask you to think about these important matters as you enter the New Year: Bible reading Begin each day by reading God s Word. Have a daily plan that includes a chapter in Proverbs and a schedule for reading through the Bible in a year. Prayer Begin each day in prayer. Use this simple acronym ACTS as a guide: Adoration Praise God for His attributes and His majesty; praise Him for revealing Himself through nature, Scripture, and His Son Jesus Confession Admit to God that you have sinned. Be honest and humble as you confess sinful actions, attitudes, words, thoughts, and also sins of omission (failing to do what you should do) Thanksgiving Be grateful for everything He has given you. Thank Him in good and bad circumstances, knowing that He has a loving purpose in all things. Supplication Ask God to meet specific needs for others and yourself. Worship Be in worship as often as possible. Worship sharpens our focus on God and His eternal plan for our lives. Worship is our opportunity to praise and honor God for who He is and all He does. Service Be involved in serving others both inside and outside your church family. We are the body of Christ on earth and it is our privilege to serve on His behalf. As we consider these and other important areas of life, please keep in mind that our life will soon be over and then comes the time of Christ s judgment and evaluation. I pray that for all of us that will be a time of reward instead of a time of regret. Love to all, Pastor Stan 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. We are so thankful for our church family at Liberty, and our times of Fellowship are deeply treasured. This group of Timeless Treasures is staying active in many LBC church ministries and in local community outreach. The majority serve at our monthly Food Pantry, and several at the Haven of Rest. We continue to serve our shut-in members with visitation and meals. This is a wonderful ministry and is deeply appreciated to those that can no longer attend church services. We also helped promote and send out the service and sermon CD s to the shut-ins. We have purchased several CD players for those that did not have access to one. This year our group bought and distributed 50 boxes to the homeless. These boxes contained non-perishable food items, a small Bible, water, and a few other necessities. Each member took several boxes and was responsible for handing them out to those in need, either on the street corners, or in other areas where the homeless are. This continues to be a source of prayer and ministry for our group. We enjoyed putting together Easter Bread Baskets for our Shut-in Ministry. Not knowing if someone was diabetic or not, we decided to forego the candies and give out bread. It was very well received. We also bought and distributed pumpkin pies the week before Thanksgiving to the Shut-in ministry. You will always be welcomed inside for a visit if you are carrying a pie! Our group Card ministry is continued to those that are sick or in the hospital. Words of encouragement are always appreciated during our hour of need. We continue to look for new areas in our church family and community, where we can be of service and share the love of God. Come and join us in our time of Fellowship on the 2nd Saturday of each month. If you re age 50 or over join us in January to see what God s going to do in 2019
