FROM THE DESK OF MICHAEL BAKER For some time now, I have sensed that my time as the Commissioned Ruling Elder for Calvary is coming to an end. It was not easy to come to this realization, taking a lot of time in prayer and thoughtful discernment to make sure that the Lord is indeed asking me to end my time in Calvary's pulpit. I don't have another call waiting for me; I only know that it is time for us to prepare to part ways. To this end, I have informed the Session that I will continue my commission at Calvary through next Easter, at which time I will no longer be your regular preacher. You, the people of Calvary Church, have an exciting time ahead of you. The leaders that you have elected are faithful, Godloving people who will lead your congregation to do the work of the Lord in our community. Pray for them, work with them, and support them in their service. Pray for me, as I spend the coming months preparing to leave the comfort of a church family who has loved me for many years, trying to see what new path the Lord has set for me. I will pray for all of you, as you once again find a way forward as people of God, hoping that your love will be strengthened and your arguments will be few. Jeremiah 29:11-12 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope. Then when you call upon me and come and pray to me, I will hear you. Love, Mike

On June 17, we celebrated Calvary s 123rd anniversary and recognized 39 individuals who have been members for 50 or more years. Fourteen of those members were able to attend and are pictured here.
