April 5, 2019 On Sunday morning, April 14, at 10:30 a.m., the choir and orchestra will lead us in a Holy Week reflection on the life of Christ. As part of this Sunday morning worship event we will have the opportunity to partake of the Lord s Supper in a slightly different format. Let me share a few bullet-point details that will be helpful for you to consider as you prepare for the Lord s Supper experience on April 14. Worshipers will have the opportunity to walk to the front of the Worship Center to partake of the Lord s Supper at one of five tables that will be set up and hosted by one of our deacons and his wife. Worshipers who would like to partake of the Lord s Supper as a family or as members of a Connect Group should sit together at the beginning of the service in order to come to one of the tables together. Ushers will dismiss worshipers toward the Lord Supper tables row by row. Deacon hosts will guide worshipers to one of five open tables across the front of the Worship Center. When worshipers approach the table, they should plan to partake of the bread and the juice while standing at the table. A basket will be provided to hold empty communion cups. If a worshiper has mobility concerns and would prefer to have the bread and the cup brought to them at their seat, they may contact Mike at the church office at 704.549.8215 or at miketoney@universityhills.org. Our encounter with Jesus at the Table is an opportunity for spiritual formation and transformation. We will recall that Christ invites us to his Table for a holy meal that includes communion with the triune God. As we come, the Holy Spirit will help us remember God s covenantal action toward his people in the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ. The Table event enables our reflection on the death of Christ his body that was broken and his blood that was shed to pay the penalty for our sins; our time at the Table is also a celebration of the new life that is ours in Christ the Great Thanksgiving! I look forward to our communion with God through the Table, the Scriptures, and through the music we will share together. I also look forward to our communion with one another as we worship and remember the priceless treasure God has given us in his Son, Jesus our Savior. Mike
