3PK October 24-25, 2015 Acts 1-2; Matthew 6:33 First 10 minutes of the service hour: Engage kids in cooperative play activities to help them connect to other kids Next 5 minutes: Connect Time Next 25 minutes: Large Group Last 25 minutes: Snack and Small Group Ask kids who gave them their picture, and if they gave a picture to someone else too! I m In: The Early Church We can share Jesus. This is Week 1 of the I m In campaign. We ll talk about similar content as adults, but in a way that s kid-friendly. The goal is not to encourage kids to engage in the campaign but to make it easy for families to discuss biblical truths together. Hopefully, parents will invite kids into the ways God is moving in their hearts since that will impact the whole family. Today we re talking about how we can share Jesus with others! The basis of the lesson will be the Early Church, and how they shared Jesus with others by living like him.

GOAL: Connect time is all about engaging kids in a short, interactive game to prepare them for Large Group. Clean up! (10 minutes after the service start time, when you get the 5-minute warning from the presenter) Line kids up, and have them hold hands. Tell kids we re going to do some silly things, but we have to do it together! While still holding hands, have them do the following (make sure to demonstrate the actions): o Lift hands up o Touch your toes o Wiggle their arms o Wiggle their legs o Hop o Sit down o Stand up o Swing your arms back and forth o Touch your knees o Spread out as far as you can o Get as close as you can Repeat this list of actions until it s time for Large Group! As you walk into Large Group, encourage kids to put on their listening ears! Remind them that HOPS will be showing us how we should act in Large Group, so we have to listen!

Goal: Kids will (1) retell the story of the Early Church and (2) we can all share Jesus. Why? Even kids as young as 3 or 4 years old can understand that we don t want to keep Jesus to ourselves; we can share him with others! Tip: Preschoolers have very short attention spans, so do you best to redirect their attention every few minutes or so. REVIEW THE STORY 1. Who came to rescue us from all the wrong things in the world? (Jesus) 2. Who gets to be in God s family? (Everyone, our friends, our family, etc.) 3. Who can be a part of the church? (Everyone, anyone who wants to follow Jesus) 4. Can we help our friends be a part of God s family? (Yes) 5. Should we keep Jesus to ourselves, or should we share him with others? (Share him with others) ACTIVITY Tell kids that we re going to make something special, and then share it with a friend, just like we share Jesus with our friends! Hand out an I can share Jesus page (a picture of open hands) to each kid, along with markers, glue sticks and 3 heart pictures. Kids can glue their hearts onto the open hands, and decorate with markers. After their done, have them give it to someone else! Remind kids that we can share Jesus with out friends by being like Jesus, and doing what he would do. *Pray for kids before they leave. Ask God to help us share Jesus with our friends. Extra time? Have kids do a coloring sheet. After that, play musical chairs. Turn the music on and have kids go around the table, and as soon as you stop the music, they have to find a chair. You can change it up by having them hold hands as they walk around the tables, like in Connect Time.

1 Kids will be hearing terms from today s video like the Early Church. Make sure to emphasize that church is just another way to say God s family, and that we can all be a part of it. We re watching a video today about the Church, and the specific ways that we can be a part of it. Make sure to emphasize the simple, straightforward actions that we can do to be a part of the the church that the video demonstrates. Here s a link to the video: https://vimeo.com/136645535 *Click to play intro music Hi Friends! Welcome to Kids Club. I'm and I'm really glad you're here today. Before we get started, I want you to meet my friend HOPS. She s going to remind us of the kind of choices we can make today in Kids Club. Video: HOPS: Put your listening ears on! (Fall theme) (Holding up the Bible for kids to see) This is God s story. Out of all the stories in the world, this story is the most important. Do you know what it s called? (Let kids respond the Bible.) That s right, the Bible! It s God s Rescue plan. In the beginning, God made the whole world and everything in it. And it was all GOOD. Give me a big thumbs up! (Let kids respond. Then change your tone.) But THEN, something bad happened. Adam and Eve disobeyed God, and all the wrong things came into the world. Things like sadness and death. Show me your sad face. (Let kids respond.) Even though Adam and Eve disobeyed God, God loved them anyway! He planned a great rescue so that Adam and Eve and you and me could be close to God again! Do you know who the rescuer is? (Let kids say: Jesus!) That s right! Jesus! JESUS IS OUR RESCUER When Jesus came to rescue us, he saved us from all the wrong things in the world. If you re glad that Jesus rescued us, give me a big thumbs up! (Let kids respond.) Okay, if you re really, really glad that Jesus came to rescue us, than clap your hands together! (Let kids respond.) Okay, if you re really, really, really glad that Jesus rescued us, let s all say, Thank you Jesus!

together. Are you ready? One, two, three (Yell Thank you Jesus! along with kids.) Good job! You all seem really happy. When you re happy, do you like other people to be happy too? (Let kids respond, Yes! ) Me too! That s why God wants us to share Jesus with our friends. WE CAN SHARE JESUS God wants EVERYONE to be a part of his family. That means you, and you and you (point to kids) and everyone we know! Does God want our friends to be part of his family? (Let kids respond, Yes! ) Does he want grown ups to be a part of his family? (Let kids respond, Yes! ) You re right; he wants everyone in his family. Has anybody ever shared a toy with someone? (Let kids respond.) Yeah, me too. We have to share things all the time. There s something else that we can share with people, and it s the most important thing we could ever share. Do you want to know what it is? (Click to show Jesus slide and let kids respond.) It s Jesus! We can share Jesus with our friends, and that s how we can help them be in God s family. If you want to share Jesus with your friends, give me two thumbs up! (Let kids respond.) WE CAN BE LIKE JESUS There are lots of ways we can share Jesus with our friends. One way to do it is to act like Jesus. Let s watch a video that shows us how we can do that. VIDEO: Kid Bible Story / The Early Church Wow! The kids in that video were talking about what a church is. A church isn t just a building we go to. It s a group of people who all want to be like Jesus, and who share Jesus with others! That means that WE are the church. You, and you, and you.and me! Do you all think that you can be part of the church, and be like Jesus too? (Let kids respond.) Yep, you can, and so can I. Let s learn about some of the ways we can do it. If you can do them, take a step forward (After each prompt, remind kids to step forward. Let them come up close to the presentation area as they step forward.) Can you help your friends when they are hurt? Can you share a toy with someone? Can you say sorry if you hurt someone? Can you tell your friends who Jesus is? Can you love your friends? Can you be part of the church? Wow, it looks like all of you can be like Jesus, because you took a lot of steps! I can t wait for all of us to help our friends be in God s family. PRAY (Break it down into small, repeatable phrases) Dear God. We love you. We want to share you with everyone. A-men! WORSHIP Let s sing some songs to Jesus, to show him how glad we are that he rescued us.

Music Video: Whole Wide World Song: Thank You Lord Song: Be Strong (extra song if you have time left over) Dismiss kids to small groups. (Be creative as you dismiss them. Ask them to come give you a high five first, or maybe tiptoe or hop to their groups.)
