The passage chosen talked about spiritual growth happening with you are willing to change and grow and move out of the victim role. Jack Marshall met with Board to give a report about various issues regarding the sound system and Youtube/Ustream online programs that are being streamed weekly and/or posted to YouTube. He reported that we now have 36/22 subscribers on the various services. We have posted 155 videos so far and it has been viewed more than 2,250 times over the course of the year. We have viewers from all over the world, including Japan, India, England and Canada. He suggested that we add a Subscribe button to the Union Church website to increase subscribers. Subscribers automatically get an email directing them to a new posting and/or the live stream happening. Doug will provide Devotional next time. Work with Joan/Kent to add a Subscribe button to the Union Church website. Jack mentioned that there is a cost to the UStream service that probably should be evaluated at some point, however, it does provide us with the platform that allows us to do the life stream. We also pay Jack approximately $200 a month for his services in this regard. with Properties to come up with a proposal for a new sound system and recommendation for when this would be needed. Training Session Jack This summer William s Report Bulletin Announcement: Godspell will be performed at Union Church on June 16 at 7 pm by Elation, the youth choir from St. Stephen United Methodist Church in Mesquite, Texas. It is a free performance, and a love offering will be collected to help defray expenses. Union Church is tasked to provide dinner for the choir at 5 pm the day of the performance and housing for 30-40 youth choir members and chaperones on the 16 th. Hosts are asked to provide breakfast the following day and get the guests back to Union Church to catch their bus. We recognized how much work went into the programming and music! 14) Jack volunteered to make a Facebook event page for the event. Gabe s Report Unfortunately, we were short several robes and stoles on Easter. Existing robes are ancient, showing wear and need to be replaced. Gabe presented a proposal to purchase 60 new two color robes of a lightweight (cool) polyester fabric that will blend with the Church décor. They will include a Union Church peace dove monogram and button sleeves (so they can be used by the bell choir) as well as an Gabe will do the ordering once approval has been given by Church Council for additional funds. Because of the cost, Sue Blyth moved and it was seconded by Susan Pross Kramer and voted on to pre-purchase a sample robe which could be inspected and evaluated before we proceed with a large purchase. (from Worship Supplies budget). The order will take about 6-8 weeks to receive so Doug is going to present a request to Church Council to increase our budget accordingly. The choir Is hoping they will have them in place by the beginning of the fall season activities, but no later than the beginning of Advent. Gabe will order sample robe. Gabe ASAP Easter and Maundy Thursday were a big success. A couple lessons they ran out of helium. Curtains with butterflies worked great. We will plan to take down decorations the week of May 28 th. Three pastors including Father Flannigan from Catholic Church and UMC and one other congregation will switch ministers. Captain Assignments & Adjournment Staff planning sessions for Summer/Fall services will happen Wed 24 th. Sue suggested that we include some kind of special touch to celebrate International Day of Peace in September and Homecoming in November as well as we also have Stewardship and World Communion Sunday in October. Board Members assigned as Captain s for services are as follows: Doug Communion 1 st Sunday; Sue Second Sunday; Chad Runyon Third Sunday; BJ Fourth Sunday (BJ is on Sabbatical right now) John Fifth Sunday. Sue will be on vacation from May 23-June 1 st. Next Worship Board meeting scheduled for June 7 th 4 PM All day planning session Weekly Captains for usher and greeter functions chosen.
