Samuelson Full bloom is a gradual process. The branches of the trees and bushes once bare grow to full bloom slow but steady. We go to bed and rise again day after day hardly noticing. Then one day the thickness and richness of their bloom grabs our attention. The kingdom of heaven is like the mustard seed, the tiniest of all seeds, yet when it springs up and grows, it becomes the largest plant in the garden. And with so many enormous spreading branches, even the birds can nest in its shade. (Mk 4:31-32) The kingdom of heave is like a small seed planted in us through words spoken to us, through our experiences, and through holy and divine moments. We continue in life unaware of the cumulative effect of these things. As we go. As we grow, we like the birds are able to find shade and shade from our own rebellious wills. We realize that we Full Bloom are all moving closer and closer to the harvest. That is the place of full bloom. That is the place where the kingdom of heaven completely overwhelms the kingdom of the world. For now we encounter each other at different stages of bloom. Some are still bare and unaware. Some have leaves of curiosity. Some rest in the shade but continue to venture out into this heavenly kingdom. There are some who live in this new reality most all the time. Whatever state we find ourselves in, we need to have compassion for one another and for ourselves, until full bloom. Blessings, Pastor Gary

Samuelson Morning Program 2 1/2 3 1/2 Monday Thursday 9AM 11:30AM 4 Day Program 4-Year-Olds Monday Thursday 12:30PM 3:00PM After 45 years of teaching and 18 years of teaching and directing programs at Cross of Glory Nursery School, I have decided to retire at the end of this school year. My years at Cross of Glory Nursery School have been one of the greatest joys of my life as I have had the opportunity to work with so many wonderful children and their families as well as an outstanding and caring staff. It has always felt like an extended family to me. I am now looking forward to a new chapter in my life spending more leisure time with my family and friends, but will always stay committed to ensuring the success of our nursery school. I have been asked to stay on the nursery school board of directors and will assume this new role in September. I am very excited to announce that our new Cross of Glory Nursery School s Director and Head Teacher will be Mrs. Elizabeth Nisi! I have known Liz since she enrolled her first child in our school 12 years ago. All three of her children attended and graduated from our programs and she is dedicated to our school s Learning Through Play philosophy. Liz brings years of teaching experience with her in addition to being a member of our board and the fundraising chair for the school. Many of you may also know her as the director of Cross of Glory s Vacation Bible School programs for the last 5 years. I am confident that everyone will enjoy working with Liz and am certain you will find her to be the warm, talented and dedicated professional I know her to be. Blessings and Thanks, Janet Kain

Our graduates have been busy preparing for their stage show Chicka Chicka, Boom Boom as they prepare to graduate on June 14th. It s always a bittersweet time for us as we applaud their successes but know we will miss them. We still have openings in our classes for September. Please pass the word. All of our classes are learning about animals, bugs, and warm weather activities. During chapel time, Pastor has been teaching about Noah and reviewing favorite stories from this year s chapel time. The morning class will perform many animal songs on stage for their parents on their last day of school on June 13th. All of the children have been busy making special gifts and cards for their dads. Outdoor day will be happening on June 6th. We will spend the entire day outside, playing with water, participating in games, and eating snack picnic style. We still have openings in our classes for September. Please pass the word. If you know of anyone who is interested, please have them call the church office. Liz is available during the summer to meet with anyone interested. On behalf of the Nursery School staff and board, best wishes for a very happy summer! Blessings and Thanks, Janet Kain

Bartholomew Bishop This year marks 25 years since the ELCA passed the Caring for Creation: Vision, Hope and Justice social statement, which was adopted by a more than two-thirds majority vote as a social statement of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America by the third Churchwide Assembly on August 28, 1993, at Kansas City, Missouri. In honor of Earth Day- an annual event celebrated on April 22 nd, first celebrated in 1970 and now celebrated in more than 193 countries- why not familiarize or reacquaint yourself with the social statement? The Caring for Creation: Vision, Hope and Justice social statement explains the ELCA s teachings on ecology and the environment, grounded in a biblical vision of God's intention for the healing and wholeness of creation. This statement provides a Christian understanding of the human role to serve in creation, and a hope rooted in God s faithfulness to the creation from which humans emerge and depend upon for sustaining life. http:// www.elca.org/faith/faith-and-society/ Social-Statements/Caring-for-Creation Preachers!
