HYMNS OF THE DAY Apolytikion - Eighth Tone O merciful One, You came from on high, and condescended to Your three-day burial to save us from passions. You are our life and our Resurrection, O Lord. Glory to You. Fourth Tone In the manner of the Apostles, and as successor to their thrones, God-inspired One, you deemed action above contemplation. Thus, rightly teaching the word of truth, you contended in faith to a bloody end, Priest-Martyr Gregory. Intercede with Christ our God that our souls may be saved. Troparion of Saint Sophia (Holy Wisdom) - Fourth Tone Blessed are You O Christ our God, Who as all wise the fishermen You showed forth; By sending your Holy Spirit down upon them and through them the universe You drew unto your net. O lover of mankind Glory to You. Kondakion - Second Tone Champion of Christians not put to shame, advocate before the Maker always steadfast, do not spurn sinners voices raised in prayer. In your goodness respond to bring help to us who devoutly petition you. Hasten your intercession and urgently make entreaty; for you unfailingly defend, Theotokos, those who honor you. 6

EPISTLE READING EPISTLE READER... Stephanie Caiopoulos Lubian Let Us Attend.. Verse: Their voice has gone out into all the earth the heavens declare the glory of God. Wisdom.. Saint Paul s Second Letter to the Corinthians 6:16 7:1 Let us be Attentive.. BRETHREN, you are the temple of the living God; as God said, "I will live in them and move among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore come out from them, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch nothing unclean; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." Since we have these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from every defilement of body and spirit, and make holiness perfect in the fear of God. 7

GOSPEL READING The Reading is from Luke 6:31-36 The Lord said, "And as you wish that men would do to you, do so to them. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the selfish. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful." 8

On Mondays at 7:30pm, Fr Allan Boyd teaches a Catechism of the Orthodox Faith for inquirers, which many veteran Orthodox Christians still find highly edifying. On Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fr Allan leads an Introduction to the Stories of the Old Testament. In it we amplify the overall story of God s love for His beloved people. Join us, in any of these classes to deepen your friendships with other Orthodox Christians & to ignite the flame of your Faith in our Lord. PLEASE NOTE Access to the Huffington Center Maniatakos Fellowship Hall will be limited to Noon - 2:00 pm on Sundays. Those who arrive earlier than that are welcome to join us in church for the Feast of Feasts in the Divine Liturgy. Coffee hour will begin immediately after the Divine Liturgy and the Sermon, at dismissal. The Cathedral Parking Lot will always be closed by 2:30 pm on Sundays. Those who wish to go across the street after Liturgy for further fellowship and lunch should insure that their car does not get locked in the Cathedral parking lot, as our guard is scheduled to leave at 2:30 pm. For those who are sick or suffering St. James advises us, If anyone among you is sick, let him call for the elders of the Church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (James 5:13-14) Ensuring that St Sophia s parishioners continue to be cared-for and prayed-for, please list names below of those in our midst that need prayer. Feel free to request the personal prayer of one of our priests after services, or to schedule this with one our priests during St Sophia Cathedral s office hours.
