Jesus could perform miracles because he had the power of God and anything is possible for God. Through the miracle of turning the water into wine at the wedding in Cana, Jesus showed His glory to His followers and proved who he was. In Bible times, water was stored in large stone jars and was used for washing and drinking. Jews had a special way of washing their hands before eating and used a lot of water. These very large jars were the same kind that Jesus asked to have filled with water before he changed the water into wine. Be sure and get your Worship Bulletin from the Welcome Stations and work on the activities during the sermon. Look for our new Concordia Kids Worship Bulletins at the welcome stations in the narthex and transept. Pick up your coloring pencils there too. Please return them. Each bulletin will have a Bible book mark that can be colored, cut out and placed in your own Bible to mark the Gospel reading for the day. On the front of the bulletin is a secret code to be used to unlock online games. Concordia Kids at the 9:30 am service will use the bulletin during Children's Church.

It should come as no surprise that an adversary fit to be called the god of this world and the power of darkness is a force to be reckoned with. And so he is. In The Great Deceiver, explore a being so diabolical, he will stop at nothing to separate us from God. The POWER of WE continues into the second hour on January 9, 16, 23, 30. Prime Timers met for the first time this year on Monday last week. We had great food at the potluck luncheon that everyone enjoyed. Michael Gerken and his associate from Thrivent Financial presented a program on estate planning, taxes, financial planning, and a prospect of future interest increases or decreases. Many thanks for their presentation and materials they gave us. Thank you to the visitors we had at our meeting and hope to see you here again. A schedule of events for the year were presented to the members that were present. We have a lot of events planned this year so it should be a very active year. Next month is a potluck luncheon in the Emmaus Room with a business meeting and election of officers.
