Valley Isle Fellowship Love God. Love His Church. Love His World 473 S High St PO Box 886 Wailuku, HI 96793 Those Who Can Hear Must Listen Pastor Stephen Kaneshiro From the Message to the Church at Ephesus Revelation 2:7 (NLT): Anyone with ears to hear must the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give fruit from the tree of life in the paradise of God. From the Message to the Church at Smyrna Revelation 2:11 (NLT): Anyone with ears to hear must the churches. Whoever is victorious will not be harmed by the second death. From the Message to the Church at Pergamum Revelation 2:17 (NLT): Anyone with ears to hear must the churches. To everyone who is victorious I will give some of the manna that has been hidden away in heaven. And I will give to each one a white stone, and on the stone will be engraved a new name that no one understands except the one who receives it. History shows that those who do not pay attention to mistakes and horrors of history will be cursed to repeat that history. Those who fail to see the present evils that surround us, will be destroyed by these same evils. Those who fail to heed to the warnings and concerns of the Word of God, will be doomed to the consequences of ignorance and disobedience. We live in a very dangerous and perilous age. All around the world evil is making very aggressive gains. Here in America, that which God calls sins and abominations are being praised and legalized. 2 Corinthians 4:4 (NLT) says Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. From the Message to the Church at Thyatira Revelation 2:29 (NLT): Anyone with ears to hear must the churches. From the Message to the Church at Sardis Revelation 3:6 (NLT): Anyone with ears to hear must the churches. From the Message to the Church at Philadelphia Revelation 3:13 (NLT): Anyone with ears to hear must the churches. From the Message to the Church at Laodicea Revelation 3:22 (NLT): Anyone with ears to hear must the churches. This passage is behind all of the deafness and blindness that is saturating our world and even our churches. Our churches are also caught up in all of this evil and depravity and it is because we are allowing Satan to blind us. The church in America has been so blinded by Satan that we don t even realize that we have left our first love, JESUS, and are clinging to the gods of this world. Over the past few years, I have been desperately trying to lift up the fact that we need to return to loving Jesus with all of our heart, mind and soul. The reactions of VIF include everything from disagreement to humoring me by agreeing with the concept but rejecting the implementation and activation. Dear people of VIF, Jesus called this IN THIS ISSUE 1-2 No Question, Moving On To Be Hot For Our Lord! 3-4 Injury Interrupted My Idolatry 5-7 Announcements 8 VIF Calendar 9 Sermon

No Question, Moving On To Be Hot For Our Lord! Pastor Stephen Kaneshiro the Greatest Commandment for a reason. This is the absolute key in conquering the evils that are surrounding us. We do not have the power and wisdom to confront and deal with these evils. It is only Jesus who can defeat these evils. It is only by loving Jesus with all of our heart, mind and soul that we release with great power to defeat these evils. Jesus with all of our heart, mind and soul that we release with great power to defeat these evils. We have to stop playing games with the Lord and heed and listen to His warnings. Otherwise, we will be cursed with the consequences that He says will follow this deafness and disobedience. In the next three weeks, I want to encourage and urge you to loving the Lord. I want to build within you a great sense of urgency that time is running out on us. I want you to know that now is the time for us to really live radically for Jesus Christ. Things are getting very desperate all around us and only people who are radically loving and obeying Jesus, will be able to affect positive change in our world. However, we have to be so radically in love with Jesus that we are willing to lay down our lives and our reputations for Him. Those who have ears, must listen to what the Lord is saying. God bless you all! Starting today... Come along on a chronological, Christ-centered journey through the storyline of Scripture. You will encounter God s plan of redemption in Scripture through the study of Bible narrative, the essential doctrines of the faith, and the call to join in God s mission locally and globally. A Minor Quote With A Major Question Pastor Darren Sarmiento I want to share with you a quote that seems minor but I want you to ask yourself if this is something major in your life. The gospel of Christ is inherently a missionary gospel. It is a message that changes a life, changes a course, changes affections, changes values, changes worldview, changes love, changes loyalty, and should change either our giving or going-or both. But the gospel cannot leave you as you are, the way you are, and where you are, or it cannot possibly be the gospel you have received. Kevin Turner The reason for sharing this seemingly minor quote is because I want to ask you a major question. When the Apostle Paul wrote to the church in Colossae he said in Colossians 1:28-29 (NLT) : 28 So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ. 29 That s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ s mighty power that works within me. In the earlier quote Kevin Turner mentioned that the gospel of Christ is a missionary gospel, which is, without a doubt so true! The Apostle Paul took the gospel to all people. He believed, and was trying, to remind the church in Colossae that all you need is Jesus. Even after having believed in Jesus there were some people of the church that started searching out what we would call today a kind of new age spiritual experience. Although they believed in Jesus they wanted some other kind of experience that would make them feel or be different compared to how they were. I m talking about those who said they believed in Jesus. The problem with this thinking is they would never be different; you could never be different with this mindset. Paul is reminding people that only Jesus can change you and He always starts from the inside out, never from the outside in. For example, take a Honda CR-V vehicle. It is a four cylinder small SUV vehicle and it will never be anything else than that. You can repaint it or put on bigger tires; you can lower the vehicle and put spoilers on the front and back; you can tint the windows, add fancy lights and all the bling-bling you want but it will never look like a Corvette. Nothing you try to do will ever change a Honda CR-V to be a Chevrolet Corvette; it will never happen. The point I m getting at is no matter what the people tried or did they would never be different or be changed because only Jesus could change them. The same is true of us today, no matter what we try to do inside or out, nothing about us will change. We can lose the weight, cut our hair, try to be patient, bite our tongue, change our dress style, act like we re smart or educated, read many self help books expecting to be changed, take a meditation class to find peace, go on a trip to find comfort or try to win the lottery so we don t have to worry ever again about finances; only to realize that we haven t changed one bit. However, with God and Jesus all things are possible and only they can bring about change in us! You want proof? God in the Old Testament turned water into blood, a staff into a snake, rocks to produce water and made a donkey speak. He even created the heavens and the earth and everything in it in six days, out of nothing. He just spoke it into existence. Jesus, in the New Testament, turned water into wine, made the blind to see, the dumb to speak and the lame to walk. Among many other things He even raised the dead to life. Even He was raised to life for our benefit. Now, if the Father and the Son can do all that, don t you think that this missionary gospel (which was presented that way in the quote at the beginning) can change us? Of course it can. That was the Apostle Paul s point to the church in Colossae. People, all we need to do is draw close to Jesus and build a relationship with Him! He is going to change us. We cannot change ourselves because it isn t possible. Now, let me ask you a major question. How is your relationship with Jesus? I m not asking what you have done for - 3 -

A Minor Quote With A Major Question Pastor Darren Sarmiento Him or what you want to do for Him. What I m asking is how much do you love Him? Let me try to give you a quick example of how to fall in love with Jesus. In a love relationship between a man and a woman, over time the woman begins to start falling in love with the man. The question is what made her fall in love with him? Well, they spend so much time together and it is in those times together the man begins to show his devotion to her. He shows how much he cares about her, thinks about her and cherishes her. When she needs help he is always there, she is never last on the list, but first. When she is in trouble he is willing to put his life in harm's way to rescue her. He will provide to the best of his ability whatever she needs. He tells her I cannot live without you for you are my life! Doesn t that sound like a girly movie (lol), but it s true and real. People, the man is Jesus and we are the woman and He is showing us His affections not with words but with His life, for He gave His life for us that we might live forever with Him and God the Father in eternity. You and I can fall in love with Jesus because we know how much He loves us, and all we need, is to know how much He loves us and that s it! For 22 years out of my 26 years of being a Christian I thought I needed Jesus AND something else. When all I needed to know was that Jesus truly loves me and I know it because He gave His life up for me on the cross. That kind of a love deserves a response to love Him back, and that makes me want to love Him back and then some. How is your relationship with Jesus? Spend as much time as you can with Jesus and you will fall in love with Him. And because of that, I guarantee, you will become like Him when you spend so much time with Him. * * * * * Maui County Baptist Association Message by Pastor Jay Wright, Lahaina Baptist Church Annual Meeting Saturday, October 24, 2015 10 am - 12 noon Kahului Baptist Church HPBC Representative, Clyde Kakiuchi Arise...
