Join us for a New Year s Study and Preaching Series called Half-Truths [Based on a book with the same title by United Methodist pastor, Adam Hamilton] Ever heard these (and other things the Bible doesn t say)? Everything happens for a reason God won t give you more than you can handle They are simple phrases. They sound Christian like something you might even find in the Bible. We ve all heard these words. Maybe we ve said them. They capture some element of truth yet they also miss the point in very important ways. Join us as we join preacher and author, Adam Hamilton, in his search for what the Bible does say and what we Christians really do believe. Preaching Series begins Jan. 15, 2017 (at both 8:30 and 11:00am services) Everything Happens for a Reason Jan. 15, 2017 God Helps Those Who Help Themselves Jan. 22, 2017 God Won't Give You More Than You Can Handle Jan. 29, 2017 God Said It, I Believe It, That Settles It Feb. 5, 2017 Love the Sinner, Hate the Sin Feb. 12, 2017 Beyond Platitudes, Cliches, and Half-Truths Feb. 19, 2017 Small Group/Bible Study Series begins: *Sunday, Jan. 15 at 5:00pm with Pastor Susan *Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 10am and Thurs, Jan. 12, at 7:00pm with Pastor Ivan We look forward to you joining us! RED BIRD MISSION WORKCAMP JULY 30-AUGUST 5 The Red Bird Missionary Conference is one of three missionary conferences in the United States. The other two are Oklahoma Indian Missionary Conference and Alaska Missionary Conference. A missionary conference serves in an area where local resources cannot meet the needs; therefore mission support from the whole Church is necessary. Red Bird Missionary Conference is located in Southeastern Kentucky It is the most comprehensive mission effort of The United Methodist Church in the United States, providing outreach and services that minister to the whole person (spiritual, physical, social, and economic). Within the Conference is the Red Bird Mission and Clinic that has been providing ministries in the Southeastern Kentucky region of the Appalachian Mountains since 1921. Today the need remains critical in this isolated, rural distressed area. Chronic poverty, lack of jobs, poor housing and rugged mountainous terrain provide obstacles to a fuller life for the residents of this area. Red Bird Mission and Clinic strives to meet these needs through ministry in five areas: Education, Health and Wellness, Community Outreach, Economic Opportunity and Community Housing Improvement. Red Bird Mission and Clinic offers workcamps each year for mission teams to serve in the five areas. This past year, our Mission Committee made a bold and faithful decision to support a team from Lewisville UMC to attend Red Bird Mission Workcamp for the summer of 2017. We are committed to sending a team Jul 30-Aug 7. Interested in being part of our tea that will make a difference in the lives in Southeastern Kentucky? Contact Pastor Susan sewing@wnccumc.net or 336-945-3203 CHILDREN FOR CHRIST: DON T MISS OUT!!! January 15, 9:45 am...on this special day, the two-year-old class through fifth grade will be meeting in Asbury Hall for a morning of music, message, and mission together. What a great morning it will be! We will be hearing about The Legend of the Snowflake. PARENTS: There s always a place for you! January 15 While your children are enjoying their Sunday School experience, come and enjoy a relaxing time in the church library. We will have coffee, tea, and snacks just for you! (This is just in case you don t already enjoy a Sunday School class of your own choosing.)

"HALF TRUTHS: God Helps Those Who Help Themselves and Other Things the Bible Doesn't Say" by Adam Hamilton..Beginning Sunday, Jan. 15th, we will begin a Worship Series for six weeks based on Hamilton's study "Half Truths." Study Groups will take place on Tuesdays at 10am and Thursdays at 7pm led by Pastor Ivan and on Sundays at 5pm led by Pastor Susan. To sign up or learn more, contact Pastor Susan at sewing@wnccumc.net CLUB 45: Mark your calendars for January 19 from 6:30-8:00 pm for lots of snow fun. We will meet in the church library. Our night will be filled with winter activities. Plan to join us for the evening! INCLEMENT WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS Lewisville Church, after careful consideration, may deem it wise to delay or cancel services or Sunday School in the event of inclement weather (snow, ice, etc.). We will make every attempt to notify you of our status. We are part of the weather code/notification procedures for stations WXII-12 and WFMY-2. Our policy also states that if there is no public school, night meetings are cancelled as well!
