ST. ANTHONY CATHOLIC CHURCH Archdiocese of Portland 9905 SW McKenzie St Tigard, OR 97223 Phone 503-639-4179 Fax 503-624-2364 www.satigard.org Parish Office Hours/ Horario De Oficina Monday thru Friday/Martes a Viernes 8:30AM 5PM Tuesday thru Thursday /Martes a Jueves Evening / Tardes By Appointment Saturday/Sábado By Appointment Sunday /Domingo By Appointment Greetings, I hope you are well and I pray that you are happy. This week we hear the gospel about the adulterous lady and how the scribes and Pharisees bring this lady to Jesus for judgement but Jesus says: Let the one among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her. Who would you like to bring before the Lord? Who would you like to have condemned? Sounds kind of harsh, doesn't it? But the reality is that we do this all of the time. Just look at the media. They love this kind of an event in the temple area (The TV arena). Every week it seems like we are condemning one person after the other. There are times when they never let this go. Always condemning! As a side note, please do not confuse justice with the desire to mock, ridicule and destroy. Jesus is so merciful. He is so loving. He does not have a judgmental bone in his body. What is important however is that all of us start looking in our own life. I have to look at me and I know I need confession; I need to go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. When I begin to examine my own life, there is no way I could pick up a stone and throw it at someone else. Can you just picture me going in the front of the church and calling out people s names and just condemning them? You would certainly want to stone me. I am inviting you to the Sacrament of love and mercy this Tuesday at 7:00pm. There will be plenty of priests on hand to help with confession. Have a great week. Your friend Fr. John Fourth Sunday of Lent April 7,2019

He entrusted you with a one-of-kind creation. Value her. Honor him. Having been blessed with a soul mate, why be distracted by anyone else? Make your wife the object of your highest devotion. Make your husband the recipient of your deepest trust. Love the one who wears your ring. The Bible says, A man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore, what God has joined together, let man not separate. (Matthew 19: 5-6) Don Lane 3
