MEMORIAL BOOK: July 31 Lowell Hess Aug 7 Harold & Nina Hill Aug14 Anna Claire Huggins Aug 21 Dick Huggins Aug 29 Charlie & Orla Hughes Sept 4 Paul & John Kelly TIME TO PAUSE The Hebrew word selah (pronounced say-lah ) occurs 74 times in the Bible all but three of them in Psalms. Biblical scholars aren t sure what it means, but a few ideas have predominated: a musical interlude, a break to ponder or weigh the passage just shared, an affirmation akin to Amen. Some scholars, noting connections in Hebrew to the word for lift up, suggest selah may indicate a place to stop and exalt the Lord. When we see the word in a Psalm or in Habakkuk, we should pause to carefully weigh the meaning of what we have just read or heard, lifting up our hearts in praise to God for his great truths. In the words of Psalm 24:10 (ESV), Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory! Selah. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL What a great week it was. Over 170 children participated and the volunteers were terrific. Many thanks to all who contributed snacks, worked in any capacity, kitchen, decorating, teaching, leading classes and more. We could not do it without all of you. COMING IN CHILDREN S MINISTRY: Robert will be teaching a Baptism and Confirmation class for children in September. If you have a child that is not Baptized or who would like to go through the confirmation process we encourage you to sign them up. Please call the office and get them registered. The dates will be announced in August. Jr High Youth will be forming at the end of the summer for children going into Jr High this fall. Watch for more information. BACK TO SCHOOL BLESSING: On Sunday, August 21 we will again have our special time to pray for parents, teachers and children returning to school. This will happen at the 11 AM service. It is a very important time as we all know that our schools need all the prayers they can get!! If you are a teacher or know one, have a child or grandchild you would like to bring with you that day we invite you to participate.

HELPING HANDS: The group continues to meet at Crisis Assistance Center 6 days a month to help meet the needs of those in Montgomery County. SAVE THE DATE: Golf tournament, Sunday October 9. The committee is meeting regularly to get ready for the day. Watch the bulletin for meeting times. It takes a lot of volunteers to make this happen and if you can help in any way please let the office know. Included in this newsletter is the information. This has been a crazy summer for the staff. First Dee Dee Brian s wife had her operation and her doctor is hoping to implant a pain pump in her back soon, then I, CJ, had my little heart incident. My doctor feels that I am doing well and that my heart will return to normal. But keep praying!!!!! I am overwhelmed by the number of cards and notes I have received and the encouraging phone calls. (Pam has done a bang up job in the office and all the volunteers have really been wonderful, including a couple of new ones.) Then Dowen had his foot surgery and a little problem with heart arrhythmia. He is home, resting and getting stronger and very grateful for all the prayers and love shown to him and Twila. Of course we have not forgotten all the members who have had illnesses and surgeries this summer. Please keep praying for all of us!!! April Sound Church really does know how to care for people! A SMALL LAUGH God warned a man named Lot to take his wife and flee out of the city, said the Sunday school teacher, but Lot s wife looked back and was turned to salt. A curious boy then asked, What happened to the flea? NEW TEACHERS -MISD LUNCHEON Wednesday August 10. They have 69 new teachers this year so we will need a few people to man the kitchen and help distribute the box lunches and drinks. If you would be willing to help call the office and leave your name. WISE WORDS: This country will not be a good place for any of us to live in unless we make it a good place for all of us to live in. Theodore Roosevelt

Foundation for Lake Conroe Helping Hands 67 1/2 April Wind South Montgomery, Texas 77356 (936) 588-2832 July 15, 2016 To Our Church Family and Friends, As a congregation, April Sound Church has been moved by God to help those less fortunate in the Montgomery - Lake Conroe area through the Helping Hands Ministry. This ministry was initiated, funded, and is spiritually and physically supported by our Church membership. The funding comes from three primary sources: The annual Helping Hands Golf Tournaments A tithe of the Church s general revenues Earmarked funds given by members and friends of April Sound Church The Golf Tournament this year will be October 9. This date is rapidly approaching and we need many volunteers. We need to organize, and put into motion, our efforts to make this event a success if we are to best serve those in need within our community. Please take time to pray over the attached form, complete it, and turn it in to our church, Lee Reed, as soon as possible so we can plug you into our program. Thank you for your consideration. In Christ, David Grassbaugh Golf Tournament Chairman
