Remb. by Wife, Children, Grandchildren Retreat - No Mass Retreat - No Mass Mary Partsch by Irene Partsch Sophie Utnik Anniversary Remembrance by Family Liturgical Reflection There was a sinful woman who learned that Jesus was at table in a certain Pharisee s house. Bringing a flask of ointment, she stood behind him at his feet weeping and began to bathe his feet with her tears. We have been given an example of forgiveness when Jesus says to her, Your sins are forgiven. Forgiveness and mercy lead us to be more loving. When we show forgiveness we show the face of God. This Jubilee Year may we be open to the varied opportunities to offer forgiveness and mercy to those who trespass against us. We pray to be instruments of God s mercy. 2016 Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown FATHER S DAY INTENTIONS: All Masses the weekend of June 18th 19th will be offered for the inten ons of the living and deceased fathers of the parish. FROM THE DESK OF FATHER BOB Time goes much too quickly and we need to make a decision about the future of our Fish Fries in Bon Air. I would certainly like them to continue in some form during our Lenten season but the reality is that we cannot continue as in the past. We no longer have the number of workers needed in the preparation process the week of the dinner nor can we depend upon our high school students any longer to wait on tables. They are so involved in extra-curricular activities on Friday evenings that we do not have sufficient servers to wait on tables in an efficient and timely manner. It has been suggested that we just have take-out meals available rather than sit-down dinners. This seems to be a viable option since we do have a good number of such dinners on the Friday s of Lent. If we move in that direction, hopefully we would have sufficient help in the kitchen and could use the space in the hall to expedite the process of filling orders rather than the limited space we now have in the kitchen area. I am open to suggestions and alternative ways of continuing that tradition so please consider attending a meeting that is scheduled for Thursday, July 14th following the 6:30P.M. Mass in Bon Air. I also invite the parishioners who normally attend Mass in Daisytown and volunteer for the fish dinners at that location to attend, for whatever decision is made will also affect our parish income. Please make every effort to attend this important meeting. I do appreciate the willingness of those parishioners who understand why I am eliminating the 5:30P.M. Mass in Bon Air as of the first Saturday in August. We simply do not need four Masses with a census of less than 400 families. I realize that this may be a small inconvenience for some but the opportunity is still available for those who are sincere in wanting to fulfill the Sunday obligation. Most area pastors can t believe we still have four Masses on the weekend. Times and population shifts have affected this area even in the retail and employment areas with the closing of many businesses, restaurants and stores. These are accepted as a sign of the times so why should we not expect this trend to affect our parishes as well? Cambria City has one parish with one worship site. I have every intention of keeping both worship sites open as long as we have the finances necessary to do so. This obviously depends upon the revenue we obtain from the Sunday offering envelopes and a willingness of all parishioners to financially support the parish as their means permit. A reminder as well that I will be on retreat this coming week so there will be a few changes in the daily Mass schedule. There will be no Masses on Tuesday or Wednesday mornings, June 14 & 15th. Monday, June 13th there will be an evening Mass at 6:30P.M. in Daisytown rather than at 8A.M. I would ask for your prayers during this period of time of reflection and spiritual renewal. Spiritually, I am running on empty! HOSPITALIZED None that we are aware of. Do you know someone who needs prayers? Please contact Debbie Washington at 536-3616 or dlwashi@hotmail.com to place a name on the parish Prayer Chain! Boxes for requests are also located in the vestibules of our worship sites. If you have a loved one admitted to the hospital or nursing home please contact the office. The hospital may take your church information, but it does not always get put in the computer to notify us, then Fr. Bob does not know to visit. This has happened a few times in the last month. Thanks for your help. Prayerful remembrance for all serving in the military: Ryan Wood, Army; Nathan Brezovic; Fr. Frantisek Halka, Army; Major David Dietz, Army; Petty Officer Tony Pinkas, Navy; Second Infantry Brigade & Det 1, Company C, 2nd 104th. Please contact the parish office (536-6818) if we need to add or remove any of our military personnel from this list. Thank you. YEAR OF MERCY SUMMER ROAD TRIPS! What be er way to spend a summer a ernoon as a pilgrim visi ng three churches celebra ng their 200 th Anniversary founded by our own saint in progress, Servant of God, Reverend Demetrius Gallitzin. Prayer mes have been scheduled at all three churches on June 12, June 26, July 10, July 24, August 14 and August 28. Prayers will be led in half hour intervals from 1:00 PM 4:00 PM, beginning at 1:30 PM. An added bonus is an opportunity to grow spiritually and gain a Plenary Indulgence of the Church during this special me.

Families & the Gospel June 12 Luke 7:36-50 Jesus sat down for a meal and was caught between the weeping woman and the indignant Pharisee. Why is it tough issues always pop up at meals? No wonder we need antacids! Jesus focused on the positives, offering forgiveness to the woman and understanding to the Pharisee. BUS TRIP: P P VS.
