We Can t Control Our Habitat, but... PASTOR: Peter Spragg, 613-476-2227; spragg@kos.net MUSIC & COMMUNICATIONS: Dan Dayton, 613-813-4723; danieldayton77@hotmail.com CHILDREN s MINISTRY: Sarah Armstrong, 613-920-1178; sarah@emmanuellife.com CHAIRMAN: Herman Prinzen, 613-476-9629 PRAYER CHAIN: Mike & Margaret Armitage 613-6541607 email: armits2@yahoo.ca : WE ARE HERE FOR YOU One day a young minister was being escorted through a coal mine by a coal miner who attended his Church. At the entrance of one of the dim passageways, he saw a beautiful white flower growing out of the black earth. "How can this flower blossom be so white in this dirty mine?" the preacher asked. "Throw some coal dust on it and see for yourself," the miner replied. When he did, he was surprised to see the fine, black, coal dust slide right off the snowy white petals, leaving the plant just as lovely and unstained as before. Its surface was so smooth that the grit and grime could not stick to it. In writing about this incident, he said, "Our hearts should have the same characteristic as that plant. Just as that flower could not control its habitat, so we cannot avoid living in a world filled with evil. But God's grace can keep us so clean and unspotted that though sin touches us on every side, it will not cling to us." In the parable of the sower, Jesus talks about the nature of our hearts. This week we are talking about the hard heart. What hardens our heart to the message of the good news of Jesus Christ more than anything else, is sin. It can be sin that we are involved in, that is separating us from God and hardening our heart, or sin that is being committed against us or others, that can harden us to the message of the Gospel. It is by His grace that we can be set free from the power of sin in our lives, when we repent and receive His forgiveness. It is by His grace that we can have a life that is filled with the grace of God, in spite of the sin that has been committed against us that has caused us so much pain and hardship. By His grace we can have a heart that is noble & good (Luke 8:15) and receives the word of God with gladness and live a life that is pure and unstained by this world. By His grace we can have a heart that is noble & good (Luke 8:15) August 30, 2015 welcome to EMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH SUNDAY SERVICES AT: 9 am, 11 am and 7 pm 240 Main St. Bloomfield Church Phone: 613-393-2234 www.emmanuellife.com email: emmanuel@kos.net

This in depth study focuses on understanding and setting healthy boundaries in our marriages. You'll learn why boundaries are needed as well as the safety and protection they offer. Applying biblical and relational principles you'll be able to strengthen what you have and even save what may be heading for destruction. Only when a husband and wife know and respect each other's needs, choices, and freedom can they give themselves freely and lovingly to one another. Drs. Henry Cloud and John Townsend, counselors and authors of the award-winning bestseller Boundaries, show couples how to apply the 10 laws of boundaries that can make a real difference in relationships. Once they are in place, a good marriage can become better, and a less-than-satisfying one can even be saved. Due to the nature of the course registration is limited to 8 couples so please register soon. Call 613-393-3014 This is a course you don't want to miss!!

If you have not been baptized as a believer I encourage you to do so. Jesus told us to be baptized, He also gave us the example by being baptized himself by John the Baptist. In addition, it is a declaration of your belief in Christ, and a turning point in your life as we 'die with Christ' in the waters of baptism and are raised to new life (Romans 6:4-5) Please get in touch with me if you are interested, or have any questions.
