Holiness is only a very high degree of love. Let us all unite in helping each other to become holy. It took courage to be Christ. He lived and spoke the truth, even when it wasn't popular, even when it meant humiliation and rejection. September 21 & 22 2013 Reflection for this weekend: When the steward of the rich man was caught squandering his property he was called to account and told he would be dismissed. Until this point it seems the man had just been putting in his time. When called to account he finally got industrious. He began to plot and plan in order to have something after he was judged. We tend to plot and plan for the things of this world. We work out goals and strategies to accomplish what we desire. Do we do that for our spiritual life? Most things in this world don t even last a life time. Some of us live in the same place we did as a child. How many of us drive the same car we learned to drive in? How many of us still have the first job we ever worked? Our soul is immortal and eternity is ours. Have we been planning ahead for that? Some things do last forever. Love and relationship is the stuff of eternity. Faith makes that possible. Are we plotting and planning for the next life? We won t get there by accident. There is a path. Are we doing our best to be on that path every day of our life? We never know when we will be called to account. 40 Day Prayer Campaign for Life: We have begun the 40 Day Prayer Campaign for Life. It will continue thru November 3 rd. Please consider being part of this peaceful, prayerful activity. Sign up and participate in prayer at one of our parishes or pray outside the Effingham Planned Parenthood office. See the details elsewhere in this bulletin or call the parish office for information. In Christ, Fr.Hoefler Town Hall Meeting follow-up Discussion- Tuesday, September 24 at 7 pm in the church basement. All parishioners are welcome to attend. You may choose to attend either course, although the Old Testament is a logical place to start on your spiritual journey. You may register by notifying the parish office, either at St. Anthony 347.7129 or Sacred Heart 347.7177. Courses will run for 26 and 20 weeks respectfully.
