Register of the E. E. Andross Collection Collection 129 Adventist Heritage Center James White Library Andrews University Berrien Springs, Michigan January 2003 Processed by Sabrina Riley

E. E. Andross Collection (Collection 129) Scope and Content Elmer Ellsworth Andross was born April 8, 1868 in Ottawa, Minnesota. During his childhood his family moved to Oregon where Andross was baptized into the Methodist Church at the age of 15. Two years later he joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Milton, Oregon following tent meetings led by H. W. Decker. In 1889 Andross married Sophie P. Miller with whom he had two sons. Andross denominational career began in 1888 when he joined Elder Decker as tent master. For the next 55 years he labored in evangelism, education, ministry, and church administration in Oregon, California, England, the Columbia Union, the Southern California Conference, the North American Division, and the Inter-America Division. In 1920, three years after his first wife s death, Andross married Matilda Erickson. Andross retired to Takoma Park, Maryland in the 1941 (although he briefly returned to the Inter-America Division following his retirement) where he died August 22, 1950. This collection contains many of Andross articles, sermon outlines, and several topical files including correspondence related to the revision of Uriah Smith s Daniel and the Revelation. There is also a memo book with notes taken during his travels in Africa and Asia. Arrangement The arrangement of the collection has been done by the Adventist Heritage Center. Provenance This collection was given to the Andrews University Heritage Center on September 18, 1987 by C. Warren Becker, a relative of E. E. Andross. Use All users of this collection will complete the Application to Use Unpublished Records, and observe the regulation specified in the Patron s Agreement and Researcher s Code of Conduct. All records in this collection are open and available for research. Suggested citation for this collection: Box, fld, E. E. Andross (Collection 129), Adventist Heritage Center, James White Library, Andrews University, Berrien Springs, MI.
