Series at a Glance for Kid-O-Deo About this Series: Every Easter we hear the greatest story ever, but have you ever wondered why Jesus had to do everything he did? This series, we ll dig deep into the Bible to discover the incredible story God has been sharing with us throughout all of time. Memory Verse: Romans 8:39 - Nothing at all can ever separate us from God s love because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done. Weekly Overview: Lesson: Topic: Big Idea: Lesson 1: February 17/18 : Lesson 3: March 3/4 Lesson 4: March 10/11 Lesson 5: March 17/18 Lesson 6: March 24/25 *Lesson 7: March 31/April 1 The Beginning Genesis 1 3 The Nation Exodus 13:21 22; 40:34 38 The Kings 2 Samuel 7; 2 Chronicles 36 The Prophets Isaiah 11, 61 The Son John 14:6 7 The Lord Luke 19:28 42; Hebrews 4:14 16 The Savior John 18 19; John 21 God is my creator. Series at a Glance for Kid O Deo (continued) Lesson 1: The Beginning What are the first things you can remember? Do you remember being one, or two years old? One of the most incredible things about God is that there is nothing he doesn t remember. All the way back to the beginning of the world, God has been here. He made everything, including you! : The Nation We all need a leader to follow, and that leader is God! A long time ago, God led the Israelites through the desert in a special way. He made sure they knew where to go and that they didn t get lost. The people trusted God to guide them and we can too! Lesson 3: The Kings When a man named David was king, it was clear that God had a plan. After waiting hundreds of years, suffering through many terrible kings, and being captured by another emperor s army, many people weren t sure anymore. God still had a plan for his people, though, and no matter what you are going through today, God is there for you. Lesson 4: The Prophets Thousands of years ago, people didn t have the Bible to tell them what God wanted them to know. Instead, he sent messages through people called prophets. Sometimes being a prophet was great, but other times, people didn t want to listen to what God had to say. Many of the prophets were hurt or made fun of, but that didn t stop them. They knew that what God said was true, and that he was always with them. Lesson 5: The Son From the very beginning, everything in God s story has been pointing to one thing, a time when God would come and make everything right again. When Jesus arrived, that time had come. He is God s Son! Lesson 6: The Lord The Sunday before Easter is called Palm Sunday. On this day, Jesus arrived at a city called Jerusalem, and everyone celebrated! They thought that Jesus had come to be their king, to fix everything they thought was wrong. Jesus had other plans, but the people were right about one thing, Jesus is our leader and our Lord! Lesson 7: The Savior On Easter, Jesus showed us the greatest reason he came to earth. He died to take the punishment for our sin, and then came back to life! He is God s Son, our leader, but best of all, Jesus is our Savior. 3

Opening Song 3:00 (Roll when directed) Kid-O-Deo Theme Song Video (Auto advance) Kid-O-Deo Slide Welcome 2:00 Hello Kid-Os! Welcome to Kid-O-Deo! I m super excited to be here with all of you! My name is. If this is your first time in Kid-O-Deo, we are extra happy that you are here with us! Today we will sing about God, hear a Bible story, and get to go Kid- O-Whampus together! Before we get started, let s practice saying the three rules we have here in Kid-O-Deo! Rule #1: When I m talking, you are listening! Everyone put on your listening ears, and on the count of three, let s practice listening! Rule #2: Keep your hands and feet to yourself! Do a little clap and place your hands in your lap! Rule #3: Stay in your spot! Let s take our special glue sticks and put some glue on our spot to help us stay in the right place! Nice job! Kid-Os, those rules are super important because they help us remember to listen and be respectful to others, so that we can all learn a lot and have a great time! Value :30 Kid-Os, today is a big day. We re going to learn a lot! Did you know that you can learn more about God every day? It s true! Can you repeat that after me? I can learn, I CAN LEARN, more about God, MORE ABOUT GOD, every day! EVERY DAY! 5

Worship 3:00 Awesome! Choosing to learn more about God is something I hope all of you Kid-Os do every day. I hope everyone chooses to learn about how wonderful and awesome God is. In fact, let s stand and sing this song about that! Kid-Os, sometimes when someone is super awesome, you say You re number one! Let s say that to God now! Song 1: My God is Number One (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: Bible Adventure 5:00 Singing with you is so much fun! Do you all see this huge book on the stage? This big book is actually going to help us out with our lesson today. Let s start by turning to the first page. On the count of three, will you help me? One, two, three! Do This: When you turn the page, make it a very exaggerated motion, as though you re pulling or pushing something very heavy. Encourage Kid-Os to pretend to do the same. Tech: Each time, please hit the swish sound effect just as the teacher says three. Swish SFX Bible Adventure Jingle Super! Kid-Os, turning the page brought us to our Bible Adventure! Going on a Bible Adventure is so much fun, but do you know what s missing? There s something really important that we need for a Bible Adventure Do you know what it is? A BIBLE! Do This: Show kids the Bible. Right! We need a Bible for our Bible Adventure! Kid-Os, I have an important question for you. Are the stories in the Bible real or pretend? REAL! Yes! The stories we read in the Bible really, truly happened. Do This: Get the Bible storybook out and sit down in the chair. 6

This story I m going to tell you comes from the Bible, but we use this storybook because the pictures help us imagine what it might have looked like back when the Bible was written. The pictures you see in here are the same as the ones on the screen. Turn on your listening ears so you can hear part of! Do This: Have kids help you turn the pages on the screen with an exaggerated arm wave. Picture 1: Israelites in the desert Kid-Os, a very long time ago, there were some people called the Israelites. They were God s very special people, but they had been captured by a mean king called Pharaoh. God chose a man named Moses to help the Israelites escape, and he led them through the desert. Picture 2: Pillar of cloud The Israelites had to walk for a long time, and they didn t really know where they were going. But as always, God had a plan! During the day, God led his special people with a big cloud. It guided them on their way, so they wouldn t get lost. The cloud didn t leave its place in front of the people during the day. Picture 3: Pillar of fire At night, God led the people with a big fire. That way, they could walk in the dark of the night, and still see where they were going! The fire gave them light. The fire didn t leave its place at night. Picture 4: Tent of meeting with cloud over it Sometimes the Israelites had to stop walking. When they did, the cloud would rest over the big tent where God would meet with Moses, the people s leader. When the cloud would lift, the people knew it was ok to start walking again. But when the cloud stayed over the tent, the people didn t move until the cloud lifted. Series Title Slide: 7

Kid-Os! We just learned that God guided his special people, the Israelites, using a cloud and a fire. We also learned that when the cloud didn t move, neither did the people. God used the cloud and fire both to guide the people and to let them know when it was safe to walk again. You listened really well, Kid-Os. We re done with our Bible Adventure, so when I count to three, will you help me turn the page of the giant book to see what we are going to do next? One, two, three! Swish SFX Memory Verse 3:00 Memory Verse Jingle (Auto advance Memory Verse) Romans 8:39 - Nothing at all can ever separate us from God s love because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done. Aha! Turning that page brought us to our memory verse! Here in Kid-O-Deo, we practice a memory verse because knowing words that are in the Bible helps us learn things about God! Do This: Read the verse from the screen. Kid-Os, a little while ago, we heard that God guides us. That means He helps us to know what is right and wrong, and He can also help us to know what to do. This verse is telling us that because God loves us so much, his son Jesus did something wonderful for us to keep us close to God forever! The words in this verse mean that nothing can make God stop loving us. It sure makes me feel great to know that nothing can ever come between God and me! Everyone stand up on your feet and let s practice our Memory Verse. This is the first time we are learning this verse, so listen and watch me do the actions once. Then we can all start practicing it together! Do This: Practice the verse with the Kid-Os 2-3 times. Great job practicing your Memory Verse, Kid-Os! 8

Worship 3:00 Another great way to learn about God is by singing! Let s stand and sing this song together. Song 2: 1,2,3 (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: Application 5:00 Singing with you is a lot of fun! You can sit down. Today we are talking about how God is our guide. We learned about how He guided Moses and the Israelites with a cloud and fire! Kid-Os, God has given us something that can be a wonderful guide to us. What is it? Do This: Hold up the Bible. THE BIBLE! Yes, the Bible. The Bible is kind of like the cloud and fire that God used to guide the Israelites through the desert. It is the best kind of guide we could have, because it helps us know how God wants us to live. If I feel confused, or my feelings are hurt, or if I don t know how to decide what is right and wrong, I can read my Bible and through it, God will guide me! Let s talk about how the Bible can be our guide. Do This: One by one, remove the appropriate prop from the bin on the shelf. Read the Bible verses aloud from the screen, or you could read them from the NIRV Kids Quest Bible. Kid-Os, who knows what this is? A BROOM! Yes, a broom. Picture of a mom and dad with a boy This is Braden. His mom and dad said it s time to clean his room, but he doesn t want to. He wants to play instead. If Braden looked in his Bible, he could read this verse that would help him to do the right thing. 9

Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents as believers in the Lord. Obey them because it s the right thing to do. Ephesians 6:1 says, Children, obey your parents as believers in the Lord. Obey them because it s the right thing to do. Next, check out this cool finger rocket I have! Do This: Play with the toy a little bit. Picture of kids fighting Kid-Os, these kids in the picture are fighting! They both want to play with the same toy, but instead of sharing or taking turns, they re fighting! Romans 12:18 If possible, live in peace with everyone. Do that as much as you can. If they looked in their Bibles, they would see that they were making the wrong choice! God wants us to get along with one another. Romans 12:18 says, If possible, live in peace with everyone. Do that as much as you can. Kid-Os, fighting is not the right choice. God wants us to treat each other with kindness and love! Oh, yummy! Kid-Os these are some delicious chocolate chip cookies! I ll have to save this treat for after dinner. Picture of boy holding a bunch of cookies In our picture, we see Sam. His grandma baked him a whole bunch of cookies! He is thinking of eating them all, all by himself, but there s a great verse in the Bible that gives Sam a better idea! Luke 3:11 John replied, If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry. Luke 3:11 says this: John replied, If you have two shirts, give one to the poor. If you have food, share it with those who are hungry. Kid-Os, what a great idea! Sam could share his cookies with a friend! Oh, look! What a cute stuffed puppy. Puppies make me so happy! Do This: Snuggle the puppy, make it bark, etc. 10

Picture of girl crying Kid-Os, this is Addison. Her dog just died and now she feels really sad and alone. Have you ever felt sad? She could read her Bible and learn that even when we are sad, we are never, ever alone. Joshua 1:9 Here is what I am commanding you to do. Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord your God. I will be with you everywhere you go. Joshua 1:9 says, Here is what I am commanding you to do. Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid. Do not lose hope. I am the Lord your God. I will be with you everywhere you go. Before I show you the last thing in my container, let s look at one more picture. Picture of Boy and girl talking Kid-Os, this is Sarah and her friend Jake. Jake has never been to church before, and he is telling Sarah that he doesn t know who Jesus is. There is a great verse that Sarah could read in the Bible that would help her to know what to say to her friend. It s Mark 16:15 and it says, Go into all the world. Tell the good news to everyone. Mark 16:15 Go into all the world. Tell the good news to everyone. Sarah can tell her friend all about Jesus, and she could even invite him to come with her to Kid-O-Deo! Thanks for learning how God can use the Bible to be our guide with me, Kid-Os! Whatever is happening in our lives, we can read trust the Bible to comfort us and help us make the right choices. Now, who thinks they know what is coming next? When I count to three, will you help me turn the page of the giant book to find out if you re right? One, two, three! Swish SFX 11

Big Idea 2:00 Big Idea Jingle Yay! It s time for the Big Idea! Our Big Idea helps us remember and think more about what we have been learning today. To help us learn it, we have a friend who going to come onto our screens! Let s all wave to our friend Ranger Ron! Know This: The Big Idea is, God is my guide. Big Idea Video (Auto advance) Series Title Slide: Thank you, Ranger Ron! Kid-Os, like Ranger Ron reminded us, God is our guide! He helps us know how to live our lives and make good choices! We ve got one more page to turn in our book today, so on the count of three, let s find out what it says! One, two, three! Swish SFX Kid-O-Whampus 2:00 Kid-O-Whampus: Run, Jump, Freeze (Auto-Advance) Take Homes. Prayer 2:00 That was tons of fun! You can all sit down. Do This: Show kids the family connection card and the memory verse card. 12

This is the family connection card. As you leave, make sure your grown-up gets one of these, so they can learn about all the fun we ve had in Kid-O-Deo! We also have a new memory verse card for you. This will help you remember the verse we learned today while you are at home! Let s Pray Now it s time to talk to God. Do you know what we call it when we talk to God? PRAYER. That s right, we call talking to God praying. God is the best friend we could ever have, and he loves it when we talk to him. God will always listen when you pray, because he created you and he loves you. You can pray anytime and anywhere, but here in Kid-O-Deo we fold our hands in our laps and close our eyes, to help us only think about the words we are saying to God. If you want, you can repeat the words of this prayer after me. Dear God, we love you. Thank you for loving us. Thank you for guiding us! Amen. Kid-O-Deo Slide It s been fantastic spending time with you, Kid-Os. Now it s time for you to go back to your classrooms where you will get into groups with your leader and other Kid-Os, have a snack, and do a fun activity. See you later! 13
