Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of Virginia, Springfield Lodge #217 Herbert Hunter Memorial Temple, 7001 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA 22150 Trestle Board February 2017 FROM THE EAST Fraternal Welcome to the Masonic Year 2017, last month we held our first Stated Meeting of the year, and although long, I think it provided us with Light on what to expect this year. We introduced all visitors and members of our craft, paying special attention to the visiting Past Masters, and visitors from our Masonic Family. It was good to see Brethren back in lodge that have been away. During our meeting, we covered Masonic Decorum and Etiquette, and discussed several points of order for the coming year. As the year progresses and our ritual becomes proficient, I remind everyone that we are all imperfect in our life and that we bare similar respect to each other as we would also expect. During Februarys stated meeting we will have the pleasure of receiving our District Deputy Grand Master, for Masonic district 1B, as he makes his official visit to Springfield Lodge. I can only hope that all members who are available attend so to learn what the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Virginia has to offer the Craft for the year. We are also, privileged to host our Brethren from the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Masons of Virginia, Pride of Fairfax County Lodge No. 298. Let great them accordingly. I would also like to remind the Lodge that we are continually updating our communication resources, and social media sights. These tools are for your information, in order to keep you current and informed of the activities of your lodge. If you have contributions to the sight, please contact us through the portal so that we can improve our effort. Web Link: http://springfield217.org/ Fraternally, Walter Thomas, WM Springfield #217

From the West Dear Brethren, Now that the Holidays and Inauguration are over, it is time for us to look forward and move forward. We have a busy Masonic Calendar for the year. We are very thankful for the good turn out last January 21st for the cooking of meals and making of sandwiches for our less fortunate brothers and sisters with the participation of Springfield Assembly, IORG; Nellie Custis Chapter, OES and of course our own families. We hope we can continue this momentum of great support as we deal with the upcoming projects and more especially ritual and degree work for our lodge. As mentioned before we will be having a few candidates in waiting soon so we have our work cut out for us. Can t wait to see you all on our next stated meeting and called communication. Take care to all and Happy Saint Valentine s Day! Sincerely and Fraternally, Sam Flores Senior Warden MASONIC BIRTHDAYS Clyde D. Ashley 2 Buddy G. Beck 35 Bruce H. From the Desk of the Secretary Greetings, Brethren. It has been 17 years since my last Trestle board and it feels wonderful to be back. I am fully aware that accepting this responsibility requires me to reacquaint, review and keep abreast with Masonic Law and current Lodge practices to perform my job properly and be able to assist the Worshipful Master, our officers and the Lodge. As I go through a period of adjustment, I beg for your understanding. In return, I pledge to give all I have to prepare myself and perform as expected. I will be asking a lot of help and guidance from the senior members, the Past Masters but most especially Wor. Brother Peter Terrill, outgoing Secretary, who has so far been so generous in every way. Our Worshipful Master has laid out an excellent plan for the year and has vigorously started implementation with resounding success. I enjoin each one of you to come and reconnect with your Lodge and together we share a great experience. I welcome any recommendations or questions. You can reach me via email at ernieapaga@gmail.com or call at my cellphone:(703) 978-0044.
