NEW SEASON

New Season Day Daniel Fast 2019 Guide At New Season, we make it a priority to seek God first through prayer and fasting. We do this collectively as a church for 21 days at the beginning of each year. Together, we faithfully seek God first, trusting in Him alone to create lasting impact in our lives, our church along with our community, and our world. WHEN: January 7: Begin the Daniel Fast January 27: End the Daniel Fast! (21-day participants) WHAT: The Daniel Fast is a partial fast, which means that we will eliminate select foods from our daily diet. *If you have any known medical conditions or suspect such conditions, consult your doctor before beginning the fast and follow your doctors orders. Consider fasting from television and/or social media. Fasting is to voluntarily abstain from eating/drinking for an extended period of time. You may experience many benefits from fasting (cleansing your body, breaking food, coffee & soda addictions, etc.), but the goal of fasting is to experience God in a deeper way. Right now your life may be all about you, what you want, and when you want it. Imagine if you separate yourself from your perceived needs (such as food)...you may see that life is all about Him. READ Daniel 10:3 Instructions: 1. Fasting begins on January 7 and ends on January 27. (21 days) 2. You may choose to fast from: 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

New Season Day Daniel Fast 2019 Guide PREPARE YOUR HEART: In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God appears to Solomon and explains that if His people are going through a hard time, they should seek Him and follow His ways. Then, He will hear their prayers and heal them. Be willing to hear what God says needs to change, and be willing to change. Don t continue to sin. What are the paths He wants you to walk? How much does He want you to pray and read His Word? Tell God that you surrender your life to Him and that you want more of Him and His way. PREPARE YOUR MOTIVES: Ephesians 1:3 says that there are spiritual blessings assigned to us. We can never exhaust them! Who knows what God wants to give you or show you? Maybe He wants to bestow gifts such as wisdom, anointing, prayer power, healing power, teaching power, joy, or encouragement. When you eliminate things that are keeping you from focusing on God, He is able to show you things about your life that you never knew. PREPARE YOUR SCHEDULE: Decide where you will meet with God, what and when you will eat, and how you will spend your time differently. Remember, the fast is about communing with God, so don t fill your time with distractions that will keep you from feeling hungry. Create a plan and commit to spending more time with the Lord. THE QUESTION IS NOT TO EAT OR NOT TO EAT : As you continue to fast, you will realize that you don t experience hunger pains as often as you thought you would. Without a preoccupation with food, you will be surprised at your ability to be sustained for a number of days without eating select foods and how you will take advantage of your time to seek Jesus more diligently. There is no magic in simply missing meals in the name of spirituality. The important thing to remember is to hear God speak and obey what you hear.

New Season Day Daniel Fast 2018 Guide INCREASE YOUR PRAYER TIME DURING THE FAST: Seek Him, give Him a listening ear and the quality time He deserves. He will constantly separate you from dependence on the world. Consequently, your time alone with Him may become more frequent than you originally planned, and needless to say, your prayer life will greatly improve. How appropriate that Jesus and Moses spent extensive time in the desert alone with God. It is ironic that the Hebrew name for desert is madbar, meaning to speak. You will hear His voice throughout the day in a powerful way. Wisdom will cry out to you in the streets. As the stars in heaven declare the glory of God, so every corner will reveal to your willing soul the mysteries of His Kingdom that have been withheld from the rulers of this age (Proverbs 8:1-3, Psalm 19, and 1 Corinthians 2:7). Expect to hear Him loud and clear. FOODS TO INCLUDE All fruits. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. REASOURCES: http://www.daniel-fast.com http://www.ultimatedanielfast.com ***Levels of Participation: Twice in the book of Daniel, a fast is mentioned. One is for 21 days (Daniel 10:2-3) and the second for 10 days (Daniel 1:12). We invite everyone to join us in the 21-day fast but if circumstance won t allow the full fast then please consider setting aside 10-days during the fast to join us in prayer and fasting.

Day 1: Pray Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14 1. During the next 21-days what will you seek God for? 2. What is the mark of true repentance in your life? Day 2: Pray for revival Scripture: Psalm 85:6 1. Lord send the breath of life into every dry area 2. What role does revival and rejoicing have in common? Day 3: Pray for families Scripture: Joshua 24:15 1. Holy Spirit send the winds of Pentecost and blow on our sons & daughters until they prophecy to the four corners 2. Declare and decree that you and your family are conquerors - more than conquerors - in every area. Day 4: Pray for a fresh Pentecost Scripture: Acts 2:1-13 1. Holy Spirit, turn up my volume as a Spirit filled believer until the sick are healed and the dead are raised 2. Proclaim 2019 is your year of breakthrough, and the concentration of prayer this month is a key to unlock it Day 5: Pray for Jerusalem Scripture: Psalm 122:6 1. Holy Spirit bring peace and blessing and prosperity to Jerusalem 2. We join together with one heart and one voice to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Day 6: Pray to end sex trafficking, abortion and racism Scripture: Micah 6:8, Isaiah 1:17, Exodus 21:16, 1 Timothy 1:10, Genesis 1:27, John 13:34 Day 7: Pray for Pastor Sam and Pastor Eva along with the all the pastors and leaders Scripture: Ephesians 4:11, Romans 10:15, Hebrews 13:7, Hebrews 13:17, Psalm 133:2 1. Heavenly Father, thank You that Your eyes are on our pastors and leaders, Your ears are attentive to their prayers, and Your face is against those who plot evil against them. 2. I decree soul prosperity over our pastors and leaders, and proclaim that our pastors and leaders dwell in the shadow of the Most High God.

Day 8: Pray to increase in spiritual hunger and holiness Scripture: Psalm 51:10-12 and Daniel 6:10 1. Describe your thoughts around Daniel and his commitment to the Lord. 2. What special time will you set aside in the next 21 days to talk and listen to God? Day 9: Pray for unwavering faith Scripture: James 1:2-7 1. What are you trusting God for in this season? 2. How can you line up your expectations with the Word of God when you pray? 3. Find promises in His Word that answer your need and write them down today. Day 10: Pray to draw close to the Lord Scripture: Psalm 24:3-4 and Psalm 32:5 It s not until we recognize the depth of our sin that we realize the depth of God s love. What sins have you minimized to little mistakes versus acknowledging they are what nailed Jesus to the cross? According to Romans 2:4, what leads us to repentance? Day 11: Pray for cultivating spiritual hunger Scripture: Mark 1:12-13 Are you disconnected from the things that nourish your body and soul? Take time to pray and read God s Word during the time you would normally do what you are fasting from. God will honor your heart and commitment. Day 12: Pray to worship with your whole heart Scripture: Psalm 111:1 and Psalm 27:8 How has being in God s presence changed you? Because everything we do can be an act of worship, how does this affect your view and more so, your attitude about common, everyday tasks? Day 13: Pray to walk in wisdom and revelation Scripture: Psalm 43:3 and Ephesians 1:17-18 Where have you sensed God giving you the gift of wisdom and discernment in your life? James tells us that God will give us wisdom if we ask. Will you ask Him for wisdom? He promises to give it to you when you ask.

Day 14: Pray for reliance on God Scripture: Romans 7:18-20 Are there areas in your life causing an internal struggle? Make a decision today that you will yield to the Holy Spirit and lean on His strength, not your own, to overcome obstacles of sin and selfishness in your life. Surrender and release those areas to God, knowing He will help you. Day 15: To produce the fruit of the spirit Scripture: Galatians 5:22 and 1 Corinthians 13:4 Which fruits do you think you bear easily and often? Which fruits do you think you should ask God to help you bear more of? Day 16: To be spiritually minded Scripture: Romans 8:5-6 Ask God to show you any areas where you could use a refreshed spiritual focus. Like David, in Psalm 51:10-12, pray that God will cleanse your heart, renew your spirit, and restore the joy of your salvation. Day 17: To receive a fresh outpouring of God s Spirit Scripture: Psalm 51:2, Psalm 51:7, and Mark 2:22b Do you need a fresh awareness of the Holy Spirit s presence in your life? Ask Him to fill you to overflowing. Day 18: To be a habitation for God s presence Scripture: Psalm 100:3, Psalm 95:7-8, 1 Timothy 2:8, and Matthew 13:58 How will you play a role in bringing God s presence to your community? In what areas can you play a leadership role in providing united efforts of prayer with Christ followers, fighting for social justice, or showing Christ s compassion to our community? Day 19: To value integrity Scripture: 1 Samuel 16:7b, Proverbs 4:23, and Matthew 5:8 Do you value integrity? Why does God choose to look at the heart of a person? How might God use your integrity to impact the people around you?

Day 20: Pride and humility Scripture: John 16.19-22, James 4:1-10, and Psalm 23 In what area of your life or in what relationship do you need to ask God to grant you humility? Is there someone you need to humbly approach and ask for forgiveness? Is there an area you need to surrender to God and no longer seek your will, but to trust in Him for His will to be done? Day 21: To continue to seek God first Scripture: Psalm 9:10, Jeremiah 29:13, 1 Chronicles 29:13, and Colossians 3:2 How will you continue to pray daily and seek God through Scripture now that our 21 days of prayer and fasting are ending? Will you pray daily for a hunger and a thirst to chase after God and seek His presence? What will you commit to intentionally doing so that you are seeking God daily? Please pray for the worship service tomorrow, February 2. Pray that this time of prayer and fasting will accumulate into a beautiful time of worship as we conclude with communion at our campuses, and Spirit Break-Out at Fair Haven Church during both services. AFTER YOUR FAST Ending your fast properly is just as important as beginning your fast properly. Just as you prepared yourself to begin a fast, you must prepare yourself to stop or break your fast. Break your fast with light foods like soup, mashed potatoes, pasta, etc. Drink plenty of water What new habits or disciplines do you want to keep? What dreams and visions have you seen pertaining to your personal walk with the Lord or your ministry? Fasting is a spiritual formation practice. Regular fasts will help you to clearly hear the voice of God, and keep the flesh in submission. Fasting also serves as a reminder as to who is in charge of your life. Pray and design a regime that you feel God wants for you, a system that you can be faithful to and consistent with. Thank you, and may God bless you for joining in this 21-Day Prayer & Fast! LET S GO CHANGE THE WORLD!!
