Lady Saints News Nineteen ladies enjoyed breakfast and fellowship on Saturday April 18, 2009 at 9:00 A.M. at the church. Hostesses were LaVerne Bussdieker, Sue Merkel, Mary Lou Houle and Rose Thomson. For devotions, Joan Moomey led us in prayer and read Creation-Another Story. Our guest speaker Mary Michel from Journey of the Heart s Center of Hope gave a slide presentation in the sanctuary. The Center of Hope is a community resource for struggling women of all ages located on Byrne Road and across the U.S. and around the world. Journey of the Heart s mission is to provide a way for women whose hearts are wounded and broken to discover hope and healing in their lives. Our other guest, Christie Zaborowski, who is a trained volunteer and mentor talked about how this experience has changed her life. We are so blessed to have this resource in our own vicinity. Lady Saints will again provide breakfast and lunch for approximately 20 people at the next Habitat Build on Saturday June 20. More details will follow. All ladies are invited to attend the next meeting of Lady Saints on Saturday, May 9 th at 9:00 A.M. at the church. Dear All Saints: Thank you very much for the breakfast given in my honor Easter Sunday, the kind words spoken by Tim on your behalf, and the gift presented to me. I also appreciated the positive comments given to me by various members as they departed the worship on Sunday. Serving as your interim pastor over the past 14 months has been a good experience over all. My prayers go with you as All Saints begins a new phase of ministry under Pastor Rentner. Please give him your firm support. Dear Friends at All Saints: The towels, sheets, blankets, etc., that Laverne brought to TAM s Small Household Goods Center at Park Church were gratefully received. We have been woefully short of some of those basic supplies. Also, thank you for the items you collected at your church. I came to pick them up before Easter and was very touched by everything I saw. This will help so many. Again, we thank you so much! Helen Patton (on behalf of all the volunteers) Peace!! Pastor Fred ====================================== A BIG thank you goes out to everyone who served in any way during Lenten season and Easter celebration. You all did a wonderful job! Thank you!! COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES FOR MARCH 19, 2009 All members were present except Ted Beitelschees. Tim called the meeting to order with prayer and lead devotions, reflecting on being quick to listen to Gods word. Secretary s minutes were approved as written. Treasurer s report: Total giving is down as projected, but think this will get better in the coming months. President s report: Tim discussed the website updates and how to access it. Pastor s report: Pastor Fred received a letter from St. Joan of Arc inviting ASLC members to their Good Friday noon service. This will be placed in the newsletter and bulletin. Pastor Fred also discussed his time sheet and thanked the council for their support during the past 14 months while he has been our interim pastor. Committee Reports Worship and Music: Tim discussed their meeting and will be asking for volunteers to help with some of the computer work to ease the time for Luanne. There is a flicker in the bulb for the projector in the sanctuary and this will be looked at soon. The committee meets the 2 nd Tuesday of every month at 7 pm and invites anyone to join them. They will begin using nametags in the near future. Nurture: They will be hosting the Easter brunch and Cinco de Mayo dinner in conjunction with Pastor Rich Rentner s installation. They will have a meeting on Thursday March 26 at 7 pm. The committee will also host a reception on Sunday April 19 to welcome Pastor Rich and Sue to All Saints. Youth and Family: Michelle asked for direction for this committee and the council gave her event suggestions. Pre School: Open house will be Sunday March 22. Men s group had nothing to report. Lady Saints: Happy to report that their attendance continues to have 16 20 ladies attend their monthly meetings. Property: They will be having their meetings the 1 st Tuesday of every month at 7 pm. Outside cleanup is scheduled for Saturday April 25 from 8-noon and rain date is Sunday April 26 after church. They are in the process of getting estimates for potholes repair and many other projects are being looked at.

New Business: Painting the outside of church: Chris Stockmaster joined council and he and Diana presented a proposal from SDC Painting to paint the whole outside of our church. Diana explained who they are and that they do internships for students going into business for themselves. They paint for charity every year and would like to paint ASLC for their project this year. The proposal was presented and noted that it would cost about $750. Chris discussed other outside building repairs that need to be done with this project. Funding ideas were discussed and it was decided to take up a freewill offering at the Easter brunch to help cover the cost for it. It was also recommended that we apply for matching funds from Thrivent. A motion was made by Bonnie Driver and seconded by Judy Grimes that we accept the SDC proposal and allocate up to a total of $1,000 for this project. All approved the motion, motion carried. Copy machine paper jamming was discussed and the cost of using a heavier paper. Carole has begun purchasing paper from a local office supply store and the weight of paper will be looked at. They will also have someone look at the machine to see why it is jamming so much. Vince, Laurie and Anne Mauro have requested that their membership be transferred to Community of Christ Lutheran Church. Matt has requested that his membership remain at All Saints. Mary Lou made a motion and seconded by Judy Grimes to approve the motion, motion carried. Project Feed and Great Food was discussed and decided because of the time frame we would not participate in this project at this time, but would consider it at a later date. Old Business: The Lady Saints have made a motion and approved it to have the kitchen remodeled, the current proposal was discussed. It was noted that the total cost will be less than $3,000 and will all be funded by donations and by the Lady Saints. All members approved the Lady Saints motion, motion carried. Synod assembly: We still need to have one man and one woman attend this. All members were asked to look at their schedules and we will discuss it via e-mail. Pastor Rich Rentner s installation: The installation will be on Sunday May 3; we will have in attendance members from the synod office to participate in the service. Our annual Cinco de Mayo dinner will be held in conjunction with this and the proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity. Meeting adjourned at 9:15 and closed with the Lords Prayer. Respectfully Submitted, Bonnie Driver
