Page 3 Benevolence A Bulverde Baptist Ministry Team Did you know that the Benevolence Ministry at Bulverde Baptist maintains a supply of HEB gift cards in the church office, and that these are given out frequently to people from the community and passers-by who need a little help getting to the next paycheck and have heard they might be able to find that help at Bulverde Baptist? Did you know that more extensive help is available to those in need both within our church family and our community? The Benevolence Ministry Team (BMT) is a formal committee of Bulverde Baptist with a yearly budget. Part of our budget supports Provisions, the Bulverde area food pantry (see article in this newsletter), and two team members represent the church on the Provisions board. We also receive funding from directed donations through Sunday offerings. The stated purpose of the BMT is to provide financial, emotional, and physical support to those in need, first to those in the Bulverde Baptist community, and then reaching out to the larger communities that we live in, such as the city of Bulverde, and Bexar and Comal counties. We act under the principle that if God sends a need our way, and has provided us the means to meet that need, then we will do all we can, with God s guidance. Last year, among other things, BMT paid for car repairs for a young single mom, helped with medical bills for a sick church member, provided rental assistance, helped one family in need obtain a brand new refrigerator and another a used washing machine and dryer, and many times gave gas or grocery money to get someone to the next payday. BMT also helped move an elderly church member and provided financial and general life counseling as situations warranted. Most of the BMT members would be, and are doing these kinds of helping actions regardless, but the BMT provides a framework for greater effectiveness. If you have a gift for this kind of ministry and feel God leading you in this direction, you are welcome to join us. If you have a need or know of a need that BMT might be able to help with, please let us know. Our desire is to serve God by serving our community. His Kids Jr Clubhouse: Wednesday evenings our little ones are enjoying our craft time, Bible story and play time. There is still time and room for more to join in on the Fun. The Nursery Clubhouse door opens at 6:20pm. Children need to be picked up by 8:10pm. Please be sure to feed your child before dropping off. This avoids confusion to other little ones who are there not eating and also helps us avoid any food allergy concerns. Thank You for your understanding. His Kids Jr, Sunday Mornings: Thank You to those who are volunteering in the Nursery on Sunday mornings. We continue to invite those who enjoy playing with the littlest ones to volunteer during one of the services. His Kids Jr Super Wednesday Summer Ministry: Plans will start soon for the Super Wednesday Summer Playtime. Watch for additional information to be placed on the Nursery check-in counter soon. The program is for children ages One-Kindergarten. Also, we are looking for teacher s for the classes. If you are interested please see Debra Stovall. TNT Mother s Day Out program will start 2015-2016 session registration soon. If you are interested in enrolling your child please contact Debra Stovall. An enrollment interest list is being prepared to determine the classroom needs. We need your child s name, child s birthday, parent name and contact number. Class placement is based on the child s age as of September 1st. Enrollment will open to currently enrolled families and BBC member s mid-march. Page 7 Bulverde Baptist Mission Dollars at Work One of the projects that Bulverde Baptist Church Is helping sponsor is in the village of El Porvenir, Ecuador, population 80. The village is located approximately 40 miles from the city of Esmeraldas. First Baptist Church of Esmeraldas (FBE) built a small church building in the village and leads weekly Bible studies and services. The building has only a dirt floor and no indoor bathroom. The only source of water for the village has been a small polluted river from which the villagers draw water for all their needs. As a consequence of using the polluted water, the people were often ill. Partnering with First Baptist Esmeraldas, BBC provided the funds to cover the expenses to bring fresh spring water from a nearby mountain down to the village. Under the supervision of several men from First Baptist, people from the village installed the piping and constructed a concrete water storage tank in the village. Villagers are now able to fill their water containers from three spigots on the storage tank. Because the villagers supplied the labor for the water project, there were enough funds remaining for a concrete floor and a bathroom for the church building.
