Jesus had just spent 40 days and nights out in the desert, alone, away from civilization. He was hungry, thirsty, and tired. If there ever was a time to tempt Jesus, that was it. Temptations to sin come at us every day, from many directions and in many different forms. When the temptation to sin tries to overcome us, how do we react? Do we consciously remind ourselves that we are followers of Christ? Is there a time this week when you have needed to confront a temptation to sin? What lessons did you take away from the experience? Join us, the Presence of God Prayer Community, for a LENTEN JOURNEY with Matthew Kelly as we discover what are the Four Signs of a Dynamic Catholic. We begin this journey February 25, 2014, but please join us whenever you are able. We meet in rooms 12, 13 and 14, every Tuesday night beginning at 7:30PM. For those who are interested, we begin the rosary at 7:00PM, every Tuesday. If you have any questions, please call Marla at 727-512-3099 or Marlene at 727-581-2623. Active and auxiliary members of Legion of Mary from around Pinellas County will gather at Holy Cross on Saturday, March 22 to participate in a consecration to Mary called Acies (a Latin word meaning an army positioned in battle array). This event will be celebrated with Mass at 10:30am followed by a reception in the Small Hall. Kathy Mittner at 541-2150 has more information, if needed. Julisse Levy, the Notre Dame Advancement Representative from Sacred Heart School, Pinellas Park will be here Sunday March 9 to give a presentation at the 10am and 12:30 Mass. The presentation will encourage our students/families to attend Catholic schools, instead of public or charter schools, and in particular Sacred Heart School and also provide information about the Step Up for student scholarships that provides funding for the needy families.

Matthew 4:10 Tempted between the riches and power of this world and service to God, Jesus chose service to His Father. If we wish to truly follow Jesus, we, too, must decide to turn away from power and riches and put God at the center of our lives.
