Dena Zelig called the meeting t rder at 6:39 pm. II. Members and guest in attendance: A. Apprval f Minutes A. Members were given a few minutes t review the minutes frm the March meeting. B. Ted DeVirgilis made a mtin t apprve the minutes. Alicia Bte secnded the mtin. The minutes were apprved unanimusly. V. Treasurer s Reprt A. Dena gave the members a few minutes t review the reprt. Dena explained sme f the activity in the accunts. B. The Tania Hurd Memrial Fund mney has been put back int savings. In the April reprt it will nt be listed anymre. C. A payment f $20.00 was paid t participate in the Burbank Parade. D. Dug Grimshaw made a mtin t apprve the Treasurer s Reprt. Ted DeVirgilis secnded the mtin. The reprt was apprved unanimusly. E. Final Balances as f March 31, 2015: $19,670.60 Checking 188.99 Tania Hurd Memrial (0.00) Gabrne 50.46 Savings $19,475.05! VI. Public Cmmunicatins

Anna Zinmeister reprted that she had spken with ne f the Japanese visitrs abut their mutual interest in weaving, and had received a letter and several handmade scarves, which were shwn t everyne. B. A crrectin was made regarding the New Year s party. It is free nly fr peple ver 85 years ld. C. Nanka Gunma Kenjinkai sent a $125.00 dnatin and phts. A thank yu letter will be sent. There will als be a picnic n July 11 in Orange Cunty. Mre infrmatin will be prvided at the next meeting. VIII.Cmmittee Reprts A. Gabrne, Btswana Dug Grimshaw The fundraiser at Burbank High Schl has been cmpleted. $3,000.00 was raised and will be used t buy 300 msquit bed nets. They will be delivered in July t nrthern Btswana. If any Burrughs students r staff members want t help get the fundraiser started at JBHS, let Dug r Dena knw. B. Slna, Sweden Ted DeVirgilis A pen pal prgram has been started in the sixth grade class at Jhn Muir Elementary Schl. They have sent and received tw letters, and will be sending ne mre. The students are als sending interesting cins with their letters. C. Inchen, Krea Rachel Barma Rachel suggested bringing tw pht albums, ne fr each family fr the Inchen trip, as it will prvide a nice icebreaker. Sharn Chen reprted that the sculpture t be shipped t Inchen is nt yet cmpleted. Inchen wuld like t have it by June. It is hped that it will be shipped sn. D. Ota, Japan Tmk Serizawa As part f Ota s 30 th anniversary, they wuld like t d an art exchange t prmte cultural awareness. They will have a cntest and send their tp entries t us. BSCC Lg Cntest One entry has been received. The deadline has been extended t April 30. Students and adults can submit entries.

Submissins can be sent t DenaZelig@burbankusd.rg r delivered t Sharn Chen at the Central Library. The winning design will be used n future t-shirts, statinary, and ther distributed materials. B. Bike-A-Thn 2015 April 18, 2015 Reyna Ramirez Registratin Inf and Event details Registratin is 7:00am 7:30am. The ride starts at 7:30 am. Registratin frms are nline. Bring all frms and dnatin sheets t registratin at the Buena Vista library. Vlunteer sign-ups have been sent by email. We need peple t sign up t vlunteer at registratin table and water stps. Riders shuld wear their t-shirt frm last year if they still have it. Student travelers were encuraged t find spnsrs fr the ride t help pay fr the cst f their airline tickets. Students and cmmittee members wh cannt participate are encuraged t try t find riders t participate in the event.! C. Burbank On Parade Saturday, April 25, 2015; 11:00am Felipe Mrales is the lead persn fr the parade. He will check us in at 9:00 am, and then will find ut where we are t wait. Check in at Keystne and Alameda, and then call him t find ut where t meet him. His number is (818) 692-4733. Dena als gave her number (818) 634-3526. This year s theme is a Western Theme. A minimum f seven peple are needed t participate in the parade. Hld harmless frms must be filled ut during tnight s meeting t participate in the parade. Our grup meets arund 10:00. The parade starts at 11:00 am. The parade is abut a twenty minute walk. Please wear Sister City attire. Bring water, a snack, weather may be ht. Parade rules: n pets, all children under eight must be in a strller. The streets will be blcked ff arund 7:00-7:30 am frm Olive t Keystne. After that they will nly be accessible by walking. D. Membership Renewal Renewal frms were passed arund. If yu have nt signed up t be a member, r have nt renewed yur membership this year, please d s sn. E. Student Orientatin Final payments must be turned in tnight t Sharn Chen. The final ticket price is $1, 598.60. If anyne des nt have their payment talk t Sharn tnight.

X. New Business A. Ptluck Dinner Permissin fr Minrs t travel A vlunteer ntary is present. Everyne must be ntarized at tnight s meeting. Nancy Kuchline and Hward Fallman have ffered t hst the ptluck in their hme n April 26 at 4:30 pm. Their address is 934 E. Olive Ave. Everyne is t bring a dish. As this is als a fundraiser, a $20 dnatin was suggested. Cash r a check made ut t BSCC will be accepted. Laurie Kierstein will send an email t the entire cmmittee fr ptluck sign-ups. B. Inchen travel dates June 19 July 4, 2015. Students will be flying n Thai Airlines. The flight leaves at 1:25 am frm the Bradley Internatinal Terminal, and arrives in Inchen at 6:00 am. The flight back leaves at 10:00 pm, and arrives here at 5:35 pm. The chapernes will text parents t let them knw when the flight has left and arrived. There will als be an allcall system. Everyne will be meeting at Buena Vista library at 8:00 pm n June 18 t check n passprts and shirts. A suggestin was made t leave frm the Van Nuys Flyaway instead f carpling. The cst is $7.00, and parking is free. This will be finalized at the next meeting. Rachel Barna stated that Inchen manages all the hsting decisins, n special requests are allwed. C. Ota visit July 28 August 10 D. Itinerary Cmmittee Myrtle Keefe passed arund a mck itinerary fr this summer. Sme days are cnfirmed, thers are nt. She reminded members that it is up t ur vlunteers t participate in the daily activities t make the experience better. Myrtle is lking fr vlunteers wh want t be n the itinerary cmmittee and als members wh are 24 and lder t chaperne certain days. Myrtle gave a brief explanatin f sme f the events that are typically included n the itinerary. Dug Grimshaw will give all the infrmatin regarding Missin Day t whever will be chaperning that day. E. Hst Family Cmmittee Alicia Bte will be in charge f crdinating the hst families. Applicatins are available t be passed ut during the meeting. She encuraged everyne t participate, and that it is a very rewarding experience.
