They will come up in their classes with their teachers to join their parents/caregivers for the Communion Service. When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Divided tongues, as of fire, appeared among them, and a tongue rested on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability. (Acts 2:1-4) Prelude WE APPROACH GOD

Celebrate God s Presence In The Sacrament of Communion Service of Communion
SERVICE OF HOLY COMMUNION Invitation This is the table of the risen Christ. In this feast comes the root of our joy. This feast reflects the promise of the earth and the glory of all creation. In this feast comes the Christ, Saviour and Friend of all. Therefore, all are welcome to put their trust in Him and celebrate with us this means of grace. L: The Holy One is here. P: God s Spirit is with us. L: Lift up your hearts. P: We lift them to the Lord. L: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. P: It is right to offer thanks and praise. L: It is indeed good and right to give you thanks and praise, O God of many names. You made a covenant with Abraham and caused nations, in their amazing diversity, to spread over the face of the earth. You led your people by your servant Moses out of a land of enslavement to a land of promise. You led our ancestors, and some among us, into new lands of possibility-there to find you anew. In the fullness of time, you sent Jesus, in every aspect human as we are. He grew up in a small town in Galilee, far from the seat of religious and civil power. He spoke with a distinct accent. He learned of the breadth of your grace from a Galilean mother. Beside Jacob s well, He was moved by an encounter with a minority woman and disclosed his messianic identity. Therefore, with these and our other ancestors in the faith, both named and unnamed, who through the ages and all over the world have borne courageous
witness to the hope within them, we praise you, saying: P: Holy, holy, holy God, power of life and love, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna through the ages! Blessed is the one who comes to bring your justice to earth! L: On the last night he spent with friends, Jesus took an age-old tradition of his people and transformed it into something new. He took bread, staple food of his land, blessed and broke it, and gave it to those around him saying, Take, eat, this is my body, broken for you. Whenever you do this, remember me. After supper he took a cup of wine, common drink of his people, and gave it to them, saying, Drink this, all of you, this is the new covenant in my blood. Each time you do this, remember me. On the day you raised him from the dead he was recognized by his followers in the breaking of the bread and in the power of your Holy Spirit your church has continued in the breaking of bread and the sharing of the cup. By remembering Jesus in this way now, we claim our common heritage as we proclaim the mystery of faith: P: Christ has died, Christ is risen. Christ will come again. L: Send, O covenant God, your Holy Spirit upon us and what we do here, that we and these gifts, empowered by your Spirit, may become signs of peace and love to one another and to all peoples of the earth. Through Christ, with Christ, and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory is yours everywhere, now and forever. Amen.
Silent Prayer We gather these and all our prayers, thankful that we may turn to you as to a kind Mother watching over us, and as a forgiving Father calling us home and inviting us to feast eternally with him: The Lord s Prayer (sung) Our Father, in heaven, hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil, for the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, Now and forever. The bread is broken. The cup is poured. Prayer after Communion (in unison) Life-giving God, may we, who share Christ s body, live his risen life; we, who drink his cup, bring new life to others; we, whom the Spirit lights, give light to the world. Strengthen us in the hope you have set before us, so that we and all your people shall be free, and all creation will live to praise your name. Life-giving God, we give you thanks for the gift of our Saviour s presence in the simplicity and splendour of this holy meal. Unite us with all who are fed by the life of Christ so that we may faithfully proclaim the Good News of your love and that your church may be a rainbow of hope in an uncertain world; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.
