Immaculate Heart of Mary Family Faith Pipe Organ Update The pipe organ project has received broad and generous support. So far, the parish has received 95% of the monies needed to cover the cost of this last phase of the project! This will involve the actual refurbishing and installation of the Casavant Opus 2277 pipe organ. Work on the organ has already begun. David Wallace and Co., LLC, of Gorham, is the primary contractor. He has subcontracted some of the work to the Faucher Organ Company, Inc. in Biddeford. Both of these companies are wellrespected in the work of pipe organ building and repair. For those who are interested, please go to the parish website where we have included a link to the Faucher Organ website where you will see photos of some of the work they have been doing on this project. When the interior of Church was painted a couple of years ago, the workers noticed and reported that there were serious problems with the 80yearold stainedglass windows. The three large windows in the rear of the church and the round window over the doors of the main entrance are sagging and bulging. (When standing in the center aisle, it is easy to see there is a roughly 3inch gap between the top of the windows and the frame.) Worried about the danger of losing these beautiful windows, the members of the Finance Council urged that repairs on these windows begin as soon as possible. The Finance Council also wanted to be certain that the windows be removed for repair before the pipe organ is installed in that area to avoid any possibility of damage to the organ. A reputable stainedglass company (recommended by the Diocese) will be removing these windows in the very near future. Ashley O Brien, Business Manager Director of Music and Liturgy Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, is seeking an organist/ music director. Candidate should be proficient in organ, piano, and conducting. Must be able to work well with people, be able to direct an SATB choir, work with cantors and other musicians. Instruments include newlyrefurbished Casavant pipe organ, electronic Allen organ and a Roland digital piano. A degree in music is preferred. Must have a good understanding of Catholic liturgy and of the authoritative liturgical documents of the Church (or willingness to learn.) Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing. Half time position plus benefits. Salary commensurate with education and experience. Visit IHMAUBURN.ORG for more information. Resumes may be sent to: Search Committee, 24 Sacred Heart Place, Auburn, ME 04210 or email: ihmauburn.search@gmail.com Formaon A homebased, familyorientated, way of living and learning our Faith!
