December 5, 2012 Pray Now! And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord s people. Ephesians 6:18 Please pray for all the students, and for the staff of Denver Christian Schools as we work together to equip our students to engage the world with Christ s transforming power and love. Please pray with us for the many potential students to DCHS. Pray that their shadow experiences are positive and encouraging as the students and parents make decisions regarding their future. Pray for quick healing! Several of our student athletes have experienced injuries recently. Pray that their bodies will heal completely and rapidly and that they will soon be able to be back in the game they so enjoy! Monday Tuesday Hot Lunch Schedule Wednesday Thursday Friday High School Schedule Monday Daily Tuesday Connections w/ Chapel Wednesday Daily Thursday Connections w/ Links Friday Daily Pizza Campus Cuisine Chick-fil-A Lunch Boxes of Love Catering Truck Campus Cuisine Panda Express Pizza Lunch Boxes of Love DCHS families, Nobody wants to get a present that was "re-gifted"... and you better not re-gift a Christmas present. Re-gifting is usually frowned upon at Christmas time... unless you are a DCHS student. Our focus for the year has been on Re-Gifting. No, I'm not talking about re-wrapping that ugly sweater you got from your grandma and giving it to a co-worker. When we talk about "re-gifting," everyone at DCHS knows what we are talking about... and it is a good thing. Recently, the high school has re-gifted in very practical ways... Westside Buddies, Gratitude Feast, and SWAG projects. *Westside Buddies -- A couple times a month, the high school students "re-gift" their science knowledge to help inner city students from Westside Academy. This school does not have the resources to provide a hands-on science curriculum, so every other Friday, we transport these students to our campus for a science lesson. Over a hundred DCHS students are partnered with a Westside Buddy to teach the science lesson. What a wonderful way to use our learning to serve... re-gifting our knowledge. *Gratitude Feast -- Last Thursday, the high school had our annual Gratitude Feast... a potluck hosted by the DCHS Parents' Association, where each student offers an item for the entire school to enjoy in thanksgiving to God for all the blessings that he has given to us. The admission price to this feast is a canned food item to donate to the local homeless shelter. We re-gifted our food. *SWAG (Service With A Grin) Projects -- Over the past two weeks, our students have worked on SWAG projects in the neighborhood. Student Council members visited with our immediate neighbors, asking if they had any projects that our students can help complete. We have been busy with raking leaves, general cleanup, moving bricks, and just loving our neighbors. Re-gifting our physical strength and labor. These are only a couple of ways that we "re-gift" what God has given to us... our knowledge, our food, and our physical labor. These were all examples from last week! Next year, our annual theme will change, but we will still be re-gifting because that is what a Denver Christian High School education involves... equipping students "to engage the world with Christ's transforming power and love"... that's from our school mission statement... and we are living it out!. In Him, Steve Kortenhoeven High School Principal A Note from Dr. K Denver Christian High School - 2135 S. Pearl Street - Denver, Colorado 80210-303-733-1804

Sierra Leone Cultural Experience Congratulations to the following DCHS students who have been invited to participate in the Sierra Leone Cultural Experience trip this summer: Sarah Adams Brianna Hayes Kaylee Natelborg Kendall Marlow Jerika Schmitt Erin Waanders Ruby Wenzinger These students, along with teachers Barry Meyer and Amber VanMaanen will spend just shy of two weeks discovering the African culture and discussing the similarities and differences from their own experiences. Stayed tuned for ways that you can support this DCHS experience and pray for these participants as they prepare for this. Weekly Prayer Meetings You are invited to join us for a weekly prayer meeting at the High School Campus on Tuesday mornings from 7:45 to approximately 8:45 in the small conference room adjacent to the school office. Please feel free to come for any of the time that you are available. If you need to leave early or arrive late, we will still appreciate your joining us as we lift up and commit Denver Christian School, its staff and students into Jesus' hands. A prayer request box is available at the High School office if you have any items that we can pray for. For any questions or ideas, please contact Janet Hannah at 303-936-4566. And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God. Phil. 1:9-11 If any of you want to pray, but cannot make the meetings, you may contact Janet by email at janhannah@earthlink.net and she will email you this week's prayer requests along with any answers to prayer. Hunks for Hire! If you have a project around the house, the baseball team would love to help you! Additionally, the baseball team is selling 2 year ESPN magazine subscriptions for $40 (the team keeps $30) as a fundraiser for this trip also. What a great Christmas gift! Shadow Students come and see In the past weeks and months DCHS has been host to many students spending the day shadowing current DCHS students. The hallways and classrooms have been hopping and it s been exciting to see our student ambassadors share the DCS experience with their peers. High School inquiries continue and applications are beginning to roll in. Please continue to pray for these students as they explore the possibility of DCHS and please continue to share the positive and exciting stories of Denver Christian Schools.
