Thank you to the parents and youth who made it such a success. Plans are already in the works for our next retreat, where we hope to have both a middle school and a high school track. Please pray about how you can help us in this important youth ministry effort. A special thank you goes out to our youth minister, Chris Corrice, as well as the volunteers he has working with him in this ministry. Please pray for the 62 youth we have in our Confirmation program. This group has been diligently meeting twice a month for the last 10 months, in anticipation of receiving the Sacrament on September 6 th. They are a great bunch and their formation has been both challenging and rewarding for us. We are so grateful for their families for supporting this preparation. Remember, during August and September, we will gather in the lower rectory conference room at 5:15, to view a great series of short films called, Queen of Heaven: Mary s Battle for Souls, loaned to us from parishioner Tom Hanson. After the movie, we will pray the rosary at the grotto. Also, we will be having a movie night at the grotto on the evening of Saturday, August 26 th. In last week s letter, I stated we would be showing the movie, The Shack. We have changed the movie to, The Case for Christ. Like we ve done in the past, we will provide popcorn and a nice area for everyone to bring their lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the evening. In September, we ll have a Fall Festival, followed in October with a hayrack ride. Blessings, Melissa

From Msgr. Frank Chiodo Friends, We had a beautiful celebration of the Ext. Form of the Latin Mass last Sunday. Around 180 people came to worship. We are planning to move the Mass in Latin upstairs at 5pm beginning Sept 3rd. For the last ten years our Latin Mass community has celebrated the mass in the crypt/lower church. It is well time for the Latin Mass community to join the five English Masses and one Spanish Mass in the beauty of the main church upstairs on a weekly basis.. Thanks to our coordinators, our choir and the servers of the Mass. I am so pleased also with the great attendance at the Spanish Mass at 1;15 every Sunday. The faith of those at this Mass is quite beautiful as evidenced by the singing and enthusiastic praise and worship of our Lord. The large number of children in attendance at both the Spanish and Latin Masses gives us great hope for our future. Attended a liturgical conference a week or so ago. Cardinal Raymond Burke spoke on the awesomeness of the Sacrifice of the Mass and how important it its to remember that the Mass is not something we create or invent or change at will -it is something we have been gifted with by the Holy Spirit through the centuries which we embrace and hold in greatest esteem. Both forms of the Sacrifice of the Mass the Ordinary English form and the Latin Extraordinary Form are expressions of our one Catholic faith, passed on to us in continuity with our two thousand years of history. Hope you are managing to keep cool during this time of extreme heat. How did we ever manage when we had no air conditioning at home and most everywhere.?? Have a blessed week. Notes from the Parish Office LATIN MASS COMING UP STAIRS Beginning Sunday Sept. 3rd @ 5:00pm in the upper church every Sunday, the Latin Mass will be celebrated.
