Your Financial Stewardship For the week ended July 20, 2014 Weekly Joyful Giving Envelopes... $ 17,467.00 Offertory Collection......... $ 1,171.00 This weekend we will be featuring a speaker at all the Masses to highlight and support the Green Bay seminarians. We have been blessed with a large number of seminarians discerning the call to priesthood. With such a large number of men comes also the high cost of education. In days past the diocese could afford the expense but this is no longer the case. Now we are reaching out to the whole diocese asking persons to consider joining us in this necessary mission of the Church of Green Bay. This is the tenth annual appeal for the support of our seminarians. Last year, through the generosity of parishioners across the diocese we raised $739,000. That is an incredible gift. Father Ryan Starks and Fr. Brian Wideman were ordained priests on May 31, 2014, and one more candidate will be ordained a priest at the end of this academic year. We anticipate having 27 men in the seminary this Fall. Most men are in the seminary for six to eight years, which includes at least two years studying philosophy, and four years theology. Seminarians are responsible for their own costs while in the first two years of college seminary. The Diocese pays for their costs for the final six years of school (pre-theology/philosophy and theology). This coming year the Diocese of Green Bay expects to spend more than $900,000 for tuition, room and board, health insurance, summer language, spiritual and pastoral programs, a small stipend, support of the Office of Vocations and all of its outreach efforts, and other related costs. Thank you for any support you are able to give to this worthy offering. Watch your home mailing for a letter from Bishop Ricken if you have not already received it. Seminarians are currently studying at the following seminaries: Immaculate Heart of Mary College Seminary in Winona, MN. St. John Vianney College Seminary in St. Paul, MN. Conception Seminary College in Conception, MO. St. Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary in Mundelein, IL. St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee, WI. North American College Seminary in Rome, Italy. For the week ended July 27, 2014 Weekly Joyful Giving Envelopes... $ 18,827.00 Offertory Collection........ $ 1,547.00 Fr. Mark Vander Steeg Budgeted Weekly Joyful Giving $22,660.00

August 2 & 3, 2014 PAGE 3 Seminarian Collection Kickoff This week, you will be receiving a letter from Bishop Ricken requesting your help in supporting our semina- rians. We would like to invite you to pray about what God is calling you to give to help support the collection. Please consider providing a gift of $25, $50, $500 or more. As each seminarian makes great sacrifices to help anoint the world with the Father s love, we too can help in a big way by supporting them. Please know that whatever you are able to give is wonderful! Thank you in advance for responding generously to our Seminarian Collection and returning your pledge card. Our seminarians are our hope for the future. Let s help them today! As a Diocese, we anticipate costs of more than $850,000 this year for tuition, room and board, health insurance, support of the Office of Vocations which invites disciples to consider the priesthood and other expenses for our seminarians. These young men are our Hope for the Future. Thank you for your generosity as you Help them Today. To make your gift today, visit www.catholicfoundationgb.org/give. St. Bernard School Crystal Blahnik School Principal The children of the St. Bernard Parish Vacation Bible School created a very special "Spiritual Bouquet" for Fr. Mark last week. Each child's name appears on a petal and has been affixed to canvas, creating a "Bouquet". Additionally, a special prayer book was created in which each child made a special promise to keep Fr. Mark in their prayers and actions. We were blessed to have Vacation Bible School in the St. Bernard Catholic School facility. Many of the children are students at the school, and with a focus on the seven sacraments, the week was a fun way to reinforce the teachings of the Church for the Children.
