FROM THE DIRECTOR S CHAIR Meeting Minutes October 2012, Its October Can you all believe that. I mean were actually talking about the banquet already and I feel like we just got done. It has been a great summer to say the least and Fall is upon us already!! What a busy September we had. We spent a great afternoon supporting the Quad meet, a great drive down, great friends, great food and a great raffle. I would be remiss to not also mention the silent auction to benefit the museum and the car games. Speaking of the museum, we just returned from the dedication in Hickory Corners Michigan, home of the Gilmore Car museum. What a great time we had. A fantastic driving tour down South Lake Shore Drive and on to the old Red Arrow highway. Ron at the helm or the wheel I should say with great stops along the way. The MAFFI Model A Museum was officially handed over to MAFFI for the decoration now to prepare it and fill it and open it to the public on May 18 th, 2013. We will be planning a spring over-nighter for the club that weekend and more to follow later. If you have never been to this magnificent setting and all the barns of cars, plan now to join us. With over 200 persons and 120 cars it was a great day, the pictures were flowing, the speeches were galore and the Illinois Region MARC/MAFCA Chapter donated $2600.00 to the Museum. It was a proud moment for all of us that made this possible! Due to the absence of our Secretary, Rose Niermann, the minutes for the September 4 th meeting were not taken. Hopefully they will be noted this evening. September 22 nd, Jim Antoni arranged our garage tour to the home of Phil and Holly Gansz, what a great collection he has, from Lincoln to Cadillac to Model A, it was a real treat. Then it was off the Klairmont Kollection of cars. Owner Larry Klairmont was more than gracious as he opened his doors to his 350 car collection. and ALL HIS CARS!! This was a great day, the weather was perfect, the chill in the air made it even better and 43 of us had an incredible time. Not to mention the ANNEX building he has with cars for sale. Thanks Jim for a great event! We have a lot yet to do this year as Fall is here, our brake and front end seminar, our autumn drive, Turkey dinner and more.. This is a great time of the year, you can t use the excuse of overheating!! It s been a great touring season and there is a whole lot more to come. Thanks for your support for a great hobby and a great club! Mark Maron Director Illinois Region MARC Illinois Chapter MAFCA 1
