Dear Friends, June is here and that means our children and teens and college kids are home for the summer (or will be shortly!). Summer means vacations and taking time off work. For me, it means staying inside because it sure is hot in Columbia! As I look at the calendar for this month I see a page filled with activities. It seems that things don t really slow down at Westminster. And that means that our congregation is filled with life and enthusiasm and mission, all signs of a healthy congregation. Some opportunities where you can connect with your church family are as follows: Wednesday noon study on Prayer, 2 services of worship every Sunday, Sunday, HS Retreat at Montreat, Wednesday evening fellowship and hymn sing (24 th at 5:30), Vacation Bible (June 28 th July 2). I so much enjoy seeing all the activity every day. If you re at the church during the week, please come by and say hello. It is the high point of my day to see you. Happy Summer! Over the next year, we will feature a staff member once a month in the newsletter. The staff are an important part of our church family, whether they are members here or not. We could not serve God as faithfully and as lovingly without them. Let me be the first to say THANK YOU to all of the wonderful people who work in the offices, hallways, classrooms, and worship services here at Westminster! Yours in Christ, Carol When did you become our Organist? I began the position of organist during the Summer of 2004. Tell us about your job as the Organist here at WPC. My job entails playing piano for early service, and organ/piano for second service. I accompany the choir during their practices on Wednesday nights, Sunday mornings and any concerts that occur during the year. I have filled in with other instruments as needed, like handbells, train whistles, and various forms of percussion instruments. Currently I m also filling in as the interim music director while Bonnie is on maternity leave. What is your favorite hymn? My favorite hymn - a tough question. A tie between "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross" and the old Baptist hymn, "When We All Get to Heaven". What do you like to do when you re not at WPC? What I like to do when I am not at WPC - Work full-time at Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC. I am approaching 22 yrs with the company, currently working for TRICARE. Hobbies - not much time for hobbies, but I do enjoy reading and spending time at home with the family. What is your favorite Bible verse? Psalm 90:12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
