OLOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Oakland Avenue, Baulkham Hills South Telephone:9639 4172 Facsimile 9639 0819 www.ololbhills.parra.catholic.edu.au Term 2 Week 2 6th May, 2016 This Sunday is The Ascension of the Lord Year C The Gospel reading for this Sunday is from Luke 24:46-53. While blessing them, he was taken to heaven. Jesus said to his disciples: You see how it is written that the Christ would suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that, in his name, repentance for the forgiveness of sins would be preached to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses to this. And now I am sending down to you what the Father has promised. Stay in the city then, until you are clothed with the power from on high. Then he took them out as far as the outskirts of Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. Now as he blessed them, he withdrew from them and was carried up to heaven. They worshipped him and then went back to Jerusalem full of joy; and they were continually in the Temple praising God. Our first Sharing Our Story unit in Religion for this term is Servant Leadership. In this unit we will explore many scripture passages from the bible showing leadership. Some of the readings include Moses leading the people, the gift of love and who is the greatest? Each of these readings relate to the qualities required to be a good leader. In class, we have been learning many things about The Year of Mercy. We researched the reasons for the Year of Mercy, the meaning of the Holy Doors, the prayers and the logo. Over the next couple of weeks we will examine the values on our Values Statement and look at ways we can incorporate these values more fully into our everyday lives. The value we will be promoting to the other grades is responsibility. We are creating posters and signs to explain what it means to be responsible and to show how we can be more responsible.
Thank you to our P&F for preparing such a lovely Mother s Day breakfast for all our mums. It was wonderful to see so many attend. I am sure it was appreciated by everyone.
