To Lift Your Soul, First Bend Your Knees. I want to give a shout out to all of you who helped and participated this past weekend. We had a great time on Saturday Aug 27th at the Soybean Festival. We had great help to move and set up, we had people from Centennial at our booth all day, it was great! We passed out close to 400 bottles of water and invited many people to the Movie Woodlawn. It was a great weekend. We had 61 people at the movie and we saw faces of people that we had invited from the Soybean Festival. Great Job! This only works when we all work together. We have a busy month of. Our children s Wednesday night program gets started again on 7th. The youth are meeting on Sunday evenings now. Our praise team is practicing on Wednesday evenings after choir in the sanctuary. Our next small group study The Call will be starting on 18th. Please sign up for this next discipleship study. On the sign-up sheet there is a place to let us know what time for the group works best for you. Other activities in include our deacon ordination service for Chris Duff and Daniel Jenkins. These two young men love the Lord, their families and are ready to take this step in service as a deacon at Centennial. This will be on the afternoon of Sept 18th. The ordination council (all ordained men are invited ) will meet at 2:00 pm. The service will start at 3:00 pm or as soon as the council is done with it s process. We will have a reception following the service. The 23rd and 24th of we are having our Associational Annual Meeting. This year we have a special speaker from the West Virginia State Convention who will be talking about Church Revitalization. Most of our churches in the association need to hear this information and ours is no exception. If you can, plan to attend this meeting. It is Friday and Saturday, but I believe the information that we learn will be very helpful for our church going forward! continued on page 5

We are planning on having a canopy set up here at the church on Saturday so that people who park in our lot, can wait for the shuttles to take them to and from the event. We need some people to pass out water and information about Centennial Baptist Church that day. We will have a sign-up sheet for this in the coming weeks. SEPTEMBER 2016 Page 6 SUNDAY SCHOOL The Sunday Place to Be! We would love to have you join us in Sunday School as we start a new and exciting year. We have several things planned for and and will give details and reminders as we get closer to the dates. Listed below are some of the activities: Sept. 11 Pastor and SS Director, Amy, will be in the foyer from 9:15-9:30 am to meet and greet all SS members, leaders and visitors. They just want to let you know how much they appreciate your support of SS as well as welcome any visitors. Please stop by the foyer and say Hi to them. Sept. 18 Pastor is looking forward to making a short visit to each adult and youth class sometime during the SS hour. Please encourage all your members to be present. Sept. 25 Pastor is excited about a short visit to each of the children and preschool classes sometime during the SS hour. Beat Your Best details to follow, it s gonna be fun! **Invitations to SS to help members invite people to be in SS, there will be invitation cards on the rack outside the door, help yourself. These should be available all year. **All SS teachers will receive a list of their members and some prospects. Adult teachers may want to give each class member a copy. WHY IS SUNDAY SCHOOL SO IMPORTANT? *Spiritual growth study God s Word apply it to your life. *Original Church small group. By meeting together each Sunday you can build lasting Christian relationships in a relaxing and friendly environment. *Place to share each other s life experiences your blessings, your challenges, your problems, as well as your fun times. A place to lift each other up in prayer. *Build a strong evangelistic ministry program for members and potential members. *A place to bring CHILDREN so they can learn about God s Word. What a wonderful

Train up a child in the way he should go WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS: Rom. 1:12 NCV I want us to help each other with the faith we have. Your faith will help me, and my faith will help you. Galatians 6:2 NIV Carry each other s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Romans 12:15 NIV Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. EXCITING THINGS GOING HERE ON IN SEPTEMBER! Bring the kids from Kindergarten to 5th grade over to Centennial @ 6:30 pm on Wednesdays to be a part of Kids Worship For Life and also get a great dinner meal. (There are some great cooks in the kitchen). Centennial YOUTH are meeting here at the church on Sunday evenings @ 6:00 pm and rumor is they have a lot of fun and sometimes get wet!! Join Eric Fleming as he leads our young people to become warriors for Christ. Anyone in 6th grade through 12th grade are welcome! Something we haven t had for awhile is back! Our Praise Team sounds great and prepared to wow us. We are blessed to have such talented people here at Centennial using their talents! Small Group Study The Call will be starting on Sunday 18th and several have already signed up for this Bible study. Deacon Ordination will be here at the church on Sunday afternoon Sept 18th. Council meets with the future deacons at 2 pm and around 3 pm is for service and reception after. Come out and support the young men who are stepping out to serve God. Daniel Jenkins and Chris Duff will become deacons of Centennial. God has truly blessed our church with these men and their families.
