Come, teach us, Spirit of our God, the language of your way, the lessons that we need to live, the faith for every day. 2

CHRIST IS MADE A SURE FOUNDATION VU 325 3

Christ is made the sure foundation, Christ the head and cornerstone, chosen of the Lord and precious, binding all the church in one, holy Zion s help forever and its confidence alone. 4

To this temple where we call you, come, O Lord of hosts, today; with your faithful loving kindness hear your servants as they pray, and your fullest benediction shed within its walls alway. 5

Here bestow on all your servants what they ask of you to gain, what they gain from you forever with the blessed to retain, and hereafter in your glory evermore with you to reign. 6

Laud and honour to the Father, laud and honour to the Son, laud and honour to the Spirit, ever three and ever one, one in might, and one in glory, while unending ages run. 7

8

The heavens keep telling the wonders of God. And the skies declare what God has done. Each day informs the following day, each night announces to the next. 9

God s teachings last forever, giving wisdom. Let our words and our thoughts be pleasing to God. God is our mighty Rock and Protector! 10

11

Open My Eyes, That I May See VU 371 12

Open my eyes, that I may see glimpses of truth thou hast for me; place in my hands the wonderful key that shall unclasp and set me free. 13

Silently now I wait for thee, ready, my God, thy will to see. Open my eyes, illumine me, Spirit divine! 14

Open my ears, that I may hear voices of truth thou sendest clear; and while the wave-notes fall on my ear, everything false will disappear. 15

Silently now I wait for thee, ready, my God, thy will to see. Open my ears, illumine me, Spirit divine! 16

Open my mouth, and let me bear gladly the warm truth everywhere; open my heart and let me prepare love with thy children thus to share. 17

Silently now I wait for thee, ready, my God, thy will to see. Open my heart, illumine me, Spirit divine! 18

God of wisdom and understanding, open our ears to hear your Word. Open our hearts and minds to understand your Word. 19

Open our wills to respond to your Word. We come to worship you here, and in all the places of our living. 20

You are a faithful God, and we seek to be faithful to you in our words and in our actions. Amen. 21

22

Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as in heaven. 23

Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil 24

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours, now and forever. 25

26

Jesus with the power of the Spirit, returned to Galilee. And his reputation spread throughout the countryside. He taught in the synagogues and everyone praised him. 27

Jesus came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day as he usually did. 28

Jesus stood up to read and they handed him the scroll of the prophet Isaiah. Unrolling the scroll Jesus found the place where it was written: 29

The Spirit of God has been given to me, and has anointed me. I have been sent to bring good news to the poor, to proclaim liberty to captives and to the blind new sight, to set the downtrodden free, to proclaim God's year of favour. 30

Jesus then rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the assistant and sat down. And all eyes in the synagogue were fixed on him. 31

35

A light is gleaming, spreading its arms throughout the night Living in the light. Come share its gladness, Love s radiant light is burning bright. Living in the light. 36

And Jesus showed us a brighter path to walk He showed us things we hadn t seen. Now we, like Jesus, can help creation shine And this will be the sign. 37

A light is gleaming, spreading its arms throughout the night Living in the light. Come share its gladness, Love s radiant light is burning bright. Living in the light. 38

Creator God, you have richly blessed us. You interweave our skills and gifts together to create the fabric of our life together. 39

We give you our thanks and praise for all our blessings. Help us be creative in using our time, our talents, our money, and our imagination to encourage and support each other in this community and beyond. Amen. 40

Live into Hope VU 699 41

Live into hope of captive freed, of sight regained, the end of greed. The oppressed shall be the first to see the year of God s own jubilee! 42

Live into hope the blind shall see with insight and with clarity, removing shades of pride and fear, a vision of our God brought near. 43

Live into hope of liberty, the right to speak, the right to be, the right to have one s daily bread, to hear God s word and thus be fed. 44

Live into hope of captives freed from chains of fear or want or greed. God now proclaims our full release to faith and hope and joy and peace. 45

Go as far as your courage takes you, for we cannot go beyond the reach of God. Give as extravagantly as you may, for we cannot spend all the riches of God. 46

Care as lavishly as you are able, for we cannot exhaust the love of God. Keep journeying as a friend, for God will always be with us. May it be so! 47
