Ernie has been very active at the Mount Vernon Council since becoming a knight. n addition to serving as Grand Knight from July 2003-June 2004, he has held many offices of the Council and has been very active its charity activities including raising funds through the BNGO operation which has provided many dollars to numerous charity organizations over the years. He has been a past Purser of the Potomac Assembly and is an active member of the Color Corps participating in many Color Guard and Honor Guard events over the years. Dougherty home at 4:25 AM on the 6th of October 2008. Grace passed peacefully and as gracefully as she lived her life, at home and with her family at her side. John requests your continued prayers for the repose of her soul and for their children Jenna, Kristin, and John. Visitation was held at the Jefferson Funeral Chapel, Alexandria, VA on Saturday 11 October 2008. Annual Survey of Fraternal Activities 1 Jan 2008-31 Dec 2008 Each year our Assembly is requested to fill out an annual survey of Fraternal Activities by both our Assembly as a body and of our members. This report is due to the District Master by 10 January 2009. Please help us by completing the following survey of your past year service. Each member is requested to complete the following survey and return it to our Faithful Comptroller by end of this year. Although you may be reporting this as part of your Council or community work in general, each Assembly member is requested to fill out this survey. Potomac Assembly # 2204 November 2008 Christopher Columbus Memorial at Union Station. The three flag poles represent the 3 ships that carried Columbus Discovery Party The US Armed Forces Honor Guard with Honor America Corps in front of Columbus Memorial at the National Columbus Day Celebration The President s Own United States Marine Band played a music prelude, followed by Posting of Colors, National Anthems of (US, taly, Spain & the Commonwealth of the Bahamas), nvocation, remarks by various representatives & Procession of wreath Presenters and the Retiring of Colors. 6 Columbus looks beyond Winged Figurehead of Discovery on Ship Prow. On October 13, 2008 the Potomac Assembly # 2204 Color Corps members: Commander, SK PFN PGK Dick Bowman, SK PFN PGK Paul Preston, SK PFN PGK Jim Reilly, Comptroller SK Cliff Conway and FN SK Lee Wallis joined with the Rappahannock Assembly and with other SK Knights from the region to form Honor America Corps at the National Columbus Day Celebration. The Honor America Corps carried replicas of each of the 27 official flags that have flown over the United States since the birth of our nation as well as a number of other special flags. n addition, our Trustee 3 year SK PFN PGK Dave Lewis escorted some of the wreath presenters at the Columbus Day Ceremony. The Ceremony was well attended by our State & District Officers including: District Master Richie Head, Tom Trudeau District Marshal, J. P. McCusker, PSD FM (VAVS Chairman). There were over a hundred Sir Knights in Regalia, from Virginia, DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Prayer of Thanksgiving Almighty Father, you are lavish in bestowing all your gifts, and we give you thanks for the favors you have given to us. We thank thee for food and remember the hungry. We thank thee for health and remember the sick. We thank thee for friends and remember the friendless. We thank thee for freedom and remember the enslaved. May these remembrances stir us to service, That thy gifts to us may be used for others. Amen Please remember the less fortunate during the upcoming Thanksgiving Season. May each of you & your families be Blest this Thanksgiving. 7

Accomplishments in October 2008.. Potomac Assembly provided $ 50.00 to the District Master, Richie Head to help off set the printing cost of the Mass Program at the Exemplification in Richmond on 8 November. This action was in accordance with the membership vote taken at the September business meeting. Dougherty wife of SK John Dougherty on 11 October 2008. On Monday 13 October, six members of our Color Corps participated at the Columbus Day Celebration at the Columbus Memorial outside of Union Station. On Monday 27 October, 45 members and guests attended the Potomac Assembly social dinner at the Polo Grill. Thank you & Kudos go to our Captain, Dick Farwell for planning and coordinating this dinner. A special thanks goes to SK PFN PGK Al Anderson Jr. for his inspiring talk about his long journey to become a Deacon. We wish Al & his family continued success as we add support with our prayers. ask for your continued prayers for our men and women defending our freedom and for our elected and appointed officials who are charged to lead our Country.
