The pages of this special edition newsletter are devoted to providing you with a progress report on the For Christ Forever Capital Campaign with highlights of what your prayers and generosity have helped us achieve. Since our last newsletter, we celebrated the 40th anniversary of our Diocese of Orange and will soon reach the 5 year anniversary of acquiring what is now Christ Cathedral campus from the Crystal Cathedral Ministries. Through this progress report, we would like to share our progress on the For Christ Forever capital campaign and other special projects. Looking forward, the Orange Catholic Foundation will continue in our mission to raise, manage, grow, and grant funds supporting all aspects of Catholic faith following our donors intent and will focus on three primary goals. 1. Complete the fundraising goals for the Christ Cathedral Sanctuary 2. Continue to raise funds and grow endowments to support our Catholic Schools 3. Work in collaboration with our donors throughout the diocese to support their philanthropic goals. As we enter the New Year, we will sponsor another diocesan Roadshow to personally present you the details on our plans and progress. Local presentations will be made in all 7 deaneries. The dates and locations will be announced in early January and will be published in all parish bulletins and in the OC Catholic. CHRIST CATHEDRAL TRANSFORMATION Thanks to the vital support of so many and the ongoing prayers, sacrifices, and gifts of parishioners throughout the Diocese of Orange, we have made great strides toward transforming Christ Cathedral and its campus over the past three years into a Catholic center of worship for millions in Southern California. Christ Cathedral has recently been honored with national awards for the work in restoring the Arboretum. With it s completed the renovation, of the Tower of Hope, now houses offices for numerous ministries, including the Augustine Institute, Magis Institute and New Hope Ministries, the Christ Cathedral Parish offices, the West Coast studio for EWTN, an Immaculate Heart Radio studio and the beautiful Chapel in the Sky. Work is well underway in transforming the cathedral itself into a stunning yet welcoming Catholic place of worship. Together we will meet the ambitious goals to transform Christ Cathedral, which is now the heart of our diocese and will always remain a worldrenowned, historic center of Christian faith. We pray that you will take this step in joining us on this blessed journey of faith as an energetic member of the unified family of God. The depth of faith and spirit of service displayed continuously throughout the Diocese of Orange is heartening, especially when we see faithful Catholic stewards like you, who are giving back to God the gifts they have been given. We pray that you will appreciate that a generous gift to this worthy endeavor is both an honor and an opportunity. Thank you for your prayerful consideration. United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Visit Christ Cathedral Campus in June 2016. page 3

Christ Cathedral Commemorative and Memorial Opportunities As you honor God with your generosity, there will be opportunities on Christ Cathedral campus to recognize your legacy of thoughtful giving to our capital campaign. Donors contributing $150,000 or more qualify for commemorative opportunities. These range from a cathedral pew to one of five available campus buildings. A beautiful donor recognition wall, to be prominently on display in the Cathedral Cultural Center, will recognize all donors of $10,000 or more for their gifts to the For Christ Forever Capital Campaign and the Christ Cathedral Capital Campaign. The photo of the cutaway sample on the right represents the proposed donor recognition wall to be located in the Ruby Rinker Lobby of the Cathedral Cultural Center. CATHOLIC EDUCATION Through your help, our Catholic Education Endowments have grown to $8,035,612 as of September 30, 2016. The Orange Catholic Foundation was able to provide more tuition assistance this year than in any previous year. Your prayers and generous gifts allow more children to attend Catholic schools and receive an excellent education rooted in the gospel values of Jesus Christ and the doctrine of the Catholic Church. In the 2016-2017 school year, we granted more than $2 million in tuition assistance. With the support of the Shea Family Charity, the Orange Catholic Foundation was able to increase the amount granted to our low income schools for infrastructure upgrades. In addition to these upgrades and renovations, School of Our Lady and St. Anne School in Santa Ana, Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Habra, and St. Justin Martyr School in Anaheim received grants this year to install central air conditioning which is much needed to provide a comfortable environment more conducive to learning for our students. 40th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION: CHRIST FEST 2016 On Sunday, September 18, we held one of the biggest events in the history of our Diocese of Orange, CHRIST FEST 2016. This inspired event was a fitting tribute to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of our Diocese of Orange. Our Mass was viewed internationally on EWTN while later in the day the JOURNEY Concert was watched across the globe with more than 17,000 viewers on AOL Live. Our diocese received wonderful local, regional, and national publicity. At this event, we presented Jesus Christ, through profound Christian hospitality, to people of all faiths and of no faith, at every age, and with every background. All that we did here at Christ Cathedral on that day, we will continue to do for the greater glory of God. Christ Fest 2016 attracted an ecumenical cross section of our community to our campus to witness the progress made, the architectural plans, and how Christ Cathedral will become the spiritual center for the Diocese of Orange. LEGACY PLANNING Please consider including the Orange Catholic Foundation in your long-range financial plans to benefit your parish, school, or diocesan ministry. By prayerfully discerning this now, you may find the tax advantages can potentially increase the value of your estate, enabling you to do more than you dreamed possible. page 5

Deuteronomy 2:7 HEAVENLY LIGHTS commemorative PROGRAM LAUNCHED The Orange Catholic Foundation is providing the opportunity for people all over the world to be a part of the transformation of Christ Cathedral by digitally dedicating one of the iconic structure s 11,236 glass window panes as a perpetual Heavenly Light that will shine for generations to come. Christ Cathedral is rising anew as a beacon of faith for the Catholic Church, the Orange County community, and the world at large. Supporters of this transformation may select and secure their Heavenly Lights virtual dedication from sections of the Cathedral, which are named in honor of various saints: St. Michael the Archangel, St. Teresa of Kolkata (Mother Teresa), St. Francis of Assisi, St. Ignatius, St. Patrick, St. Augustine, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Anthony of Padua, St. Therese of Lisieux, and St. Thomas More. Heavenly Lights are a beautiful commemorative way to honor loved ones and milestone events with a permanent virtual place in our worship space. A Funds raised through the Heavenly Lights dedications will be used for renovation work and in an endowment for the ongoing maintenance of Christ Cathedral and its 34-acre campus.
