Worship Times This Week at FBC... October 10-17 From the desk of Pastor Ken... SUNDAYS 9:15am Bible Studies 10:30am Worship Service Office Hours This Week Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 4:30pm (closed during lunch hour) Friday 8:30am - Noon 254-965-3187 Nursery Hours Sundays 9:00am - 12:15pm Wednesdays 5:45pm - 7:30pm When talking about going deeper with God, a fully devoted follower needs to discover and put into action their spiritual gifts. So where do we look in Scripture? Four passages jump out of the pages of the Holy Bible concerning gifts - Romans 12, 1 Corinthians 12, Ephesians 4, and 1 Peter. Each has a different focus and adds to the understanding of the gifts of the Holy Spirit poured out in the lives of His people. The lists include many gifts that are used by God to bless His people and those around them and bring glory to Himself. Romans lists 7 gifts. 1 Corinthians gives 9. Ephesians lists five leadership gifts, or 4 if you combine the last two. Peter tells of gifts that fall into two categories: speaking gifts and serving gifts. So how does it work? The Bible reveals that God the Holy Spirit places at least one of these gifts, maybe more, in the life of a believer, and as they use the gift, supernatural power is released by God in the life of the disciple. So Paul starts Romans 12 with the challenge that if you have the gift of prophesying, that is, speaking forth God's Word, you are to do it with faith. Each gift is to be used for the good of others and the glory of God. The pattern of development or growth goes something like this: 1. First, I don't know my gift so I study the Scripture and become aware of the gifts. 2. Then I exercise my gift and others in the body

Thank you! Memory Verse Sunday, October 16 "One Great Task" Each of us must share the gospel. "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all confirm that God has gifted me in serving or teaching or leading or encouraging or one of the other gifts. 3. Finally, I grow in Christ and use my gift so that others see Christ in me. The section of Scripture in Romans 12 following the gifts tells us that every Christian is to have the characteristics of love, devotion, honor, zeal, joy, patience, faithfulness, ministry, hospitality, harmony, humility and blessing others even in difficult situations. Basically, we are to look like Jesus. So this week, let God work through you by activating the gift He has given you. Then let Christ's character shine through you so that others will know you belong to Him.
