Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) 1300 Holly Drive Richardson Texas 75080 voice 972-234-4571 fax 972-235-4947 www.cccrichardson.org ccc@cccrichardson.org Communi-K Volume 38 Number 7 April 10, 2013 Dear Friends, On Maundy Thursday I shared a little about love trails as an image from John s telling of Jesus in the upper room with the disciples. In John 13: 34 35, Jesus tells the disciples that they must love one another just as he has loved them and by this everyone will know that you are my disciples. To me, that conjures up the image of what kind of trails we leave, tracks we make, or evidence we leave behind that allow others to know who we are and what we are about. In response to Jesus command, it seems natural that he wants his followers to leave behind evidence, or trails, that we have loved fully and well those in the fellowship as he has done by example. So I offered our gathered group the opportunity to list some of the ways or examples of how we leave love trails in our lives. I have condensed many of these so that I can share them here. I invite you to reflect upon these acts and add your own to the list. Consider the question, How do I (How do we, as the church) intentionally create and leave love trails with one another and in our community and world? Here are the responses from Maundy Thursday: Hugs, smiles, welcoming handshake Caring for others: giving respect, pay it forward, do unto others.., giving a ride, providing a meal, feeding His sheep, helping someone who is sick, sacrificing without expectation of return, providing support or comfort, being with someone who is hurting or dying, praying for others, helping with a household chore, showing kindness and consideration, forgiving, being compassionate Serving communion (others first before yourself), welcoming people to worship and saying good-bye and inviting them to come back, extending friendship to new people or in fresh ways, serving the hungry and the homeless Playing with grandchildren as they imitate and pretend to model adults they esteem and admire. Many of the ideas shared that evening would fit into Jesus teaching in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew) about going the extra mile, or if someone asks for your shirt to give your coat as well. Many of these would also fit into Jesus teaching when you do it to the least of these, you do it to me also (Luke). And they all fit into Jesus upper room teaching in John. But what else could be in these lists? Turning the other cheek? How about Paul s list of being patient, kind, not jealous or boastful or arrogant or rude, not insisting on your own way, not irritable or resentful, rejoicing in the truth? Bearing all things, believing all things, hope for all things and enduring all things? Are these also evidence of love trails? To properly mark a little love trail of my own, let me express a huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped decorate, serve, plan and prepare for our Lenten season and Holy Week experiences!! It could not have been done without your loving touch and heart to make it all happen. May you find resurrection and love trails on life s journey! In the risen Christ s service together wherever He leads, David

The goal of the team is to ensure that CCC has a visible and enticing web presence. The focus at this time is to remake CCC's web site to be THE web site in the future and to enhance CCC's Facebook presence. Kevin Horn accepted the team lead position, recruited some team members and held the first meeting. THE team needs your help in these ways: 1) Provide feedback to the team as to what you would look for if you were looking for a new church. Include how you would do search, if any. Send feedback to Jeannine (2) Let the team know if you personally know of a provider with established "content management system" expertise. 3) Checkout the current web site: www.cccrichardson.org and like CCC's Facebook page. 4) Support the effort!
