This October, we are celebrating Israel s 70th birthday with a unique World ORT Mission: the 70 for 70 Mission to Israel one participant for every year of the country s modern history.
ORT is celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the State of Israel with a unique mission to Israel this October. A highlight of this year s ORT calendar, the mission will give you the opportunity to experience first-hand the ways in which we are impacting lives through education. Site visits will highlight the transformative effects of our work on both individuals and communities across the country and will 70World show you how ORT activities are building positive futures for Israel s next generation. You will meet with World ORT Kadima Mada students, teachers and administrators and hear first-hand about the impact of our work. Special events include a private meeting with Reuven Rivlin, President of the State of Israel; a personal tour of Ben Gurion s home given by his grandson Dr. Moshe Ben Eliezer; a festive dinner and behind-the-scenes tour of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art; a visit to an Israeli Air Force base led by one of Israel s top military commanders; and a trip to the Netiv Ha asara, a moshav near Gaza, to see first-hand how Israel is using innovative new technologies to defend its borders. Witness Israeli innovation and entrepreneurship Observe Israeli innovation in action On a visit to Netiv Ha asara, a moshav near the Gaza Strip, we will overlook Israel s border with Gaza and meet with Avi Shalev, the former advisor to the Israeli Coordination and Liaison Administration to Gaza, who will show us the different ways that Israel is using new and innovative technologies to defend its borders. We will also meet with local residents to hear their experiences living so close to the Gaza border. In a conversation with Israeli inventor and entrepreneur Gil Shwed, 2018 Israel Prize winner and co-founder and CEO of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd, we will discuss how Israel became the Start-Up Nation and examine the Israeli-made technologies and innovations that are shaping our future. Witness the beauty of diversity at Kiryat Yam In Kiryat Yam we will be treated to a private tour of the Alex and Betty Schoenbaum Science, Educational, Cultural and Sports Campus (Mada Park) built by World ORT Kadima Mada and home to a planetarium, oceanarium, open air Science Park and athletic courts. We will also visit the World ORT Kadima Mada-affiliated Yitzchak Rabin Junior and Senior High School to meet with its diverse student population from all over the world who have made Kiryat Yam their home. Tour an Israeli Air Force base We will be given a rare opportunity to visit an Israeli Air Force base, see Israel s combat aircraft up-close and hear a private security briefing led by one of Israel s top military officers. Immerse yourself in the potential of Kfar Silver Discover Israel s first Religious Youth Village We will visit Kfar Hassidim Youth Village, established in 1937 as the first religious youth village for European children escaping the Holocaust, where we will see first-hand the impact that World ORT Kadima Mada is having on the school and its students. At the Kfar Silver High School and Youth Village, the first school in Israel to be fully owned by World ORT Kadima Mada, we will be shown the special character of the school including its agricultural farm, greenhouses, cowsheds and goat pens; meet with students and staff; and explore the new science and technology programs that ORT is introducing at the school. Kfar Silver is a unique school which has the potential to become the model for other World ORT Kadima Mada owned schools in the future.

Guest Speakers Gil Shwed Co-founder and CEO of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd Gil Shwed is an Israeli software engineer, inventor and entrepreneur. He is the co-founder and CEO of Check Point Software Technologies Ltd, one of Israel s largest technology companies and the world s largest pure-play cybersecurity company. Shwed and Check Point emphasize the fifth generation of cybersecurity, addressing the underlying issues behind such vulnerabilities as the WannaCry and NotPetya security breaches in 2017. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Tel Aviv University and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Youth University of Tel Aviv University. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Yeholot Association Founded by the Rashi Foundation whose aim is to reduce dropout rates in high schools. Dr. Moshe Ben Eliezer Grandson of David Ben Gurion Dr. Moshe Ben Eliezer is the grandson of David Ben Gurion, the founder of the State of Israel and the country s first Prime Minister. Following his military service, Ben Eliezer studied Psychology and Sociology at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and received his MA in Communications from Queens College in New York City and his PhD in Media Ecology from New York University. He has become a reputable Life Coach who specializes in executive coaching and retirement coaching. For the last few years, he has been the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Ben Gurion House in Tel Aviv.
Avi Shalev Expert Analyst Avi Shalev is an expert analyst in the Palestinian political, economic and social arena. He was Advisor for Palestinian Affairs at the IDF as part of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories unit. Prior to this, he was Deputy Head of the Gaza Civil Liaison Office and the Head of the International Organization Branch of the Civil Administration of the IDF in the West Bank. Reuven Rivlin President of Israel Reuven Rivlin is an Israeli politician and lawyer serving as the 10th and current President of Israel. He was Minister of Communications from 2001 to 2003 and subsequently served as Speaker of the Knesset from 2003 to 2006 and again from 2009 to 2013. In 2014, he was elected President of Israel. Rivlin argues for a Greater Israel that would embrace all people and give the Palestinians of the West Bank and Gaza full Israeli citizenship. He is also a strong supporter of minority rights, particularly for Arab Israelis, and supports the one-state solution to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. ort.org 11
