The times for golf and dinner remain the same. Helping save lives is always in season. There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive at Holy Martyrs on Monday, June 9, 2014 from 3:00-7:00 pm in Martyrs Hall. Park in the rear lot. Please give the gift of life. Your Offering A major part of the Grateful Giving program is its emphasis on our weekly offering. Our giving is a unique and vital way we support the work of our church. Q: I give in other ways to Holy Martyrs, like to the Ministry of Assistance. Isn t that enough? A: Giving to special needs like our Ministry of Assistance is important and is deeply appreciated. Giving to a specific need like this is legally designated a restricted fund. These funds can only be used for the specific purpose designated. Special giving, like to our Ministry of Assistance or to the Building for Tomorrow fund are restricted. Most of our parish savings are restricted. Your Offering supports all of the work of our church. It allows for the upkeep and maintenance of our buildings, heating and air conditioning, and necessary repairs. More importantly, it provides the funds to support basic services like our office staff, and funds every ministry and program. It also pays the salaries for our hardworking staff. Your Offering makes everything we do as a parish possible. This is why giving is the focus of our Grateful Giving program. Without it, nothing we do is possible. Q: I m a parent with children in PSR. I pay the PSR fee. Why should I do any more? A: One of the most important programs at Holy Martyrs is our Parish School of Religion. It helps lay the foundation of faith that will sustain your children for a lifetime. Our PSR is the most expensive program we have at Holy Martyrs. The PSR fee helps offset the costs, but the PSR fee covers only a fraction of the actual expense. More than half of the costs of the program is borne, not by parents, but by the entire parish community. The people of our parish have always recognized the importance of religious education for our children and have generously supported it. But PSR is not the only thing we do as a parish. Our other programs, ministries, training and materials, buildings and facilities many that benefit young families are only possible through the Offering each week. It s important that these programs and services are there. Your commitment to giving through the offering matters a lot. Every PSR family should be supporting their parish each week through the Offering or electronic giving.
