Sign up for Flocknotes. www.flocknote.com/columbahopewell St. Columba - A Brief History In 1904, the Parish of St. Denis founded the St. Columba Mission Church. Mass was offered in homes and in various locations. In 1959, the Parish of St. Denis purchased our present property and a general purpose hall was built. Mass was celebrated in what is now the school gym until 1988. In 1980, a new Rectory was built on the property. The priests of St. Denis parish moved into the new Rectory. In 1988, the Pastor of St. Denis, Msgr. Joseph Meehan, and his parishioners built the new St. Columba Church. Finally, Cardinal O Connor decided to establish a new parish, separate from St. Denis. In 1992, St. Columba Parish was born. Msgr. Dominick Lagonegro, who was the Pastor of St. Denis at the time, became the founding Pastor of the new St. Columba Parish. Later, St. Columba Parish gave birth to the St. Kateri Mission Church in 1998, which became its own distinct Parish in 2002. In 2002, Bishop Dominick was transferred from St. Columba to Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh and Msgr. Gerardo Colacicco was named the second Pastor. He served from 2002-2014. In 2014, Rev. Michael McLoughlin was named Administrator of St. Columba, and in 2015 he was named Pastor. He will be installed as the third Pastor of St. Columba Parish on Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 12:00 noon by Msgr. James Sullivan, Dean of Dutchess County.

There are 56 ways to keep mercy during the Jubilee Year. Try randomly selecting one each week and putting it into practice. 5) Learn to say this prayer: Dear Lord, bless (annoying person s name) and have mercy on me! 6) Plan a mini pilgrimage to a local shrine; make an effort along the way to live the corporal work of mercy of welcoming the stranger as Christ. 7) Do something kind and helpful for someone who you don t get along with, or who has wronged you. TRI - PARISH NEWS 12 MONTH NOVENA TO PRAY FOR THE 2016 ELECTIONS The novena, which started on November 22, 2015 in the Chapel of Our Lady, Cause of Our Joy will conclude on October 22, 2016. A Holy Hour will be held on the night before the November 2016 Elections. ELECTION PRAYER TO MARY ( January 22nd) O most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care, and beg you to reclaim this land for the glory of your Son. Overwhelmed with the burden of the sins of our nation, we cry to you from the depths of our hearts and seek refuge in your motherly protection. Look down with mercy upon us and touch the hearts of our people. Open our minds to the great worth of human life and to the responsibilities that accompany human freedom. Free us from the falsehoods that lead to the evil of abortion and threaten the sanctity of family life. Grant our country the wisdom to proclaim that God s law is the foundation on which this nation was founded, and that He alone is the True Source of our cherished rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. O Merciful Mother, give us courage to reject the culture of death and the strength to build a new Culture of Life. Trusting in your most powerful intercession, we pray: Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, we fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, our Mother. To thee do we come, before thee we stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer us. AMEN.
