Wellesley Congregational Church United Church of Christ F I R S T W O R S H I P May 27, 2012
Welcome to First Worship! We extend a welcome as broad as the outstretched arms of God, who calls us to be here together to rejoice in God s glorious presence. Welcome to children of all ages to all the children of God, each one of us. If you are an old friend or here for the first time, we welcome you. Our worship is an intergenerational experience and we want children to feel fully included. We remember that worship offers us all a special place to be with God. In this space we talk a little more softly and walk more quietly. We are listening for God.

BULLETIN NOTES Service project presentation Monday, May 28, 7-8 pm, Village Common You are all invited to come and hear about the Youth Group Service Project in Santa Fe, New Mexico, that took place in mid-april. Three of our seniors have put together a short film about our work at Teusque and Santo Domingo pueblos, the gardening project with the elementary schools, and planting on Infinity Farm. We returned to Santa Fe for the second year and would love to share with Village Church our on-going relationship with these communities. June Book Group Twenty Poems to Nourish Your Soul: Selections and Commentary by Judith Valente and Charles Reynard Poetry and prayer begin together: with paying attention. The poems in this collection-including selections from Mary Oliver, W.S. Merwin, Whitman, Rilke, Li-Young Lee and others-help us to look deeply at this world, and to respond to it with attentiveness, acceptance and gratitude. The poems are organized around ten themes rooted in Ignatian spirituality, and each is followed by a commentary. In reading these poems and reflections together, we will consider the ways in which poetry can focus the meaning and mystery of life, at the heart of which is God. We will meet Thursdays, June 14, 21 and 28 at 7 pm in the Library. Email Daniel Cooperrider at Daniel@wellesleyvillagechurch.org or call 781.235.1988 x23 to sign up.
