Pastor s Corner Divine Mercy Sunday is a tremendous feast. Jesus, in a private revelation approved by the Church, told St. Faustina about the meaning of today s celebration. He said: My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open. I pour out a whole ocean of graces upon those souls who approach the fount of My mercy. The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet. My mercy is so great that no mind, be it of man or of angel, will be able to fathom it throughout all eternity. Everything that exists has come forth from the very depths of My most tender mercy. Every soul in its relation to Me will contemplate My love and mercy throughout eternity. The Feast of Mercy emerged from My very depths of tenderness. It is My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. (Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska, # 699) For a good explanation of the feast and Divine Mercy Devotion, please visit http:// www.thedivinemercy.org/assets/pdf/jpii/understanddm.pdf or the Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception website. Ultimately, today is a celebration of God s most fundamental attribute: Mercy. It is not a devotion or a fringe spirituality, but the very heart of the Gospel as the last 3 popes have particularly emphasized. God loves us, and wants us to be whole. Sin keeps us apart from God, and hinders the life of grace in our souls from operating freely. Thankfully, Jesus is relentless in seeking the lost all we have to do is confidently place ourselves in his hands and trust that he will forgive us when we ask sincerely from our hearts. Thank God for the sacrament of confession which freely dispenses this healing to those who ask it! May God s mercy come upon you and your families today! Happy Easter, Fr. Mark POPE FRANCIS PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR APRIL Universal : Youth, That young people may respond generously to their vocations and seriously consider offering themselves to God in the priesthood or consecrated life.

Wanted to take a minute to make a few announcements. Shirley Liberante has said "yes" to being the St. Alice Volunteer Coordinator! This is great news! Shirley is the connection between parishioners, their gifts and passions, and the opportunities to serve available to them. Shirley will work to integrate new members into a volunteer role and to foster a deeper commitment to the church by helping to discern the parishioner's gifts for a good fit for their time, energy and talent. In this volunteer role, Shirley will not be responsible for providing ALL volunteers for ALL parish events, but certainly will be a resource to staff to support volunteer needs as they become available. Shirley will need some time to establish her organizational system, but if you would like to be added to the parish volunteer list now, please contact her at sliberante@gmail.com. Additionally, Peg Ries updated our Time & Talents Questionnaire. Peg & Shirley have been asked to work on the development of a New Parishioner Welcome Packet in which the Time & Talents Questionnaire could be used as a vital component. It's our hope to perform a re-registration of sorts/parish census in this calendar year using this Welcome Packet. Then moving forward, the Welcome Packet would be used for all New Members. If you would like to help Peg & Shirley with this effort, please contact Shirley at sliberante@gmail.com. And Peg is also helping St. Alice with a grant application through the OCP, due May 30th. (Grant information can be found here: https://www.ocp.org/en -us/parish-grants). More to come. Please welcome Shirley in her new role and please support Peg & Shirley in their various efforts. What a blessing Shirley, Peg and ALL of the St. Alice volunteers are! With gratitude, Fr. Mark Bentz You may have noticed that new alarm systems have been installed in the church/parish hall and education building. These alarms are NOT actively in use yet. We will go live beginning Friday, June 2nd. Each group needing frequent access to these buildings outside of regular business hours will be assigned an alarm code specific to your ministry/group. Ministry leaders/coordinators must contact Christine Beldner at the Parish office to get the code assigned to their respective group. A short training session will be provided to learn how to use the systems lasting no more than 15 minutes. Please attend one of the following to learn how to use the system properly: April 30th, following 9:30am Mass in the Vestibule May 7th, following 9:30am Mass in the Vestibule May 11th, 10:00am in the Vestibule May 18th, 10:00am in the Vestibule **ALERT** - if you have a key to any St. Alice buildings, you will not be able to enter following June 2nd with a key alone. You will need to also have an alarm code to disarm the system. If you no longer require afterhours access to the church, parish hall or education center, please return any keys to the office. St. Alice has an active St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) conference since the 1950 s. The St. Alice Conference serves the poor of our area by making home visits. Individuals and families are given SVdP store vouchers for clothes, household items, and beds. We are able to do this through the generous support of you, St. Alice Parish. The St. Alice Conference will have a bucket brigade to accept donations on April 29th and 30th after masses. You may also be a regular donor to St. Alice SVdP Conference. Envelopes are in the church pews. Place your donation in the envelope and drop it off at the office or in the donation basket. GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP A support group for all those grieving the loss of a loved one will be offered at St. Alice beginning Tuesday, May 23rd.
