At the recent Annual Business Meeting the congregation approved a recommendation from John Rohrer and Dennis Hull for purchase of churchhistory display case from a commercial vendor. Following that meeting, a member of the congregation requested to meet with John and Dennis to consider an offer by the member to build a custom display cabinet of red oak stained to match the existing church woodwork. The proposed cabinet would have a bit more vertical display space, and would include two storage cabinets below the display shelves. It would be located along the wall opposite the east stairs descending into the basement as approved by the congregation. John and Dennis were very pleased with the offer, and submitted it to Church Council, which gave its approval to move forward on the proposal. The cost to the congregation for construction of a custom cabinet is not exactly known at this time; but certainly the cost, if any, to the congregation will be much less than the cost of the commercial cabinet approved by the congregation. A drawing of the proposed custom cabinet has been posted on the church bulletin board. Please refer any questions regarding the custom display case to John or Dennis. Who were the charter members and what was their purpose together with God s in starting the Sharon Mennonite Church outside of Plain City, Ohio? Join with your faith community on Sunday, December 3, following a fellowship meal, as together we rediscover your heritage as a Mennonite congregation begun many years ago.
