Fairfield Good News KNOWING HIM AND MAKING HIM KNOWN June 2018 Upcoming Events June 4 Consistory June 5 Primary Elections From the desk of Pastor Scott: In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan. And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased. On the second day of our trip to Israel we stopped at the River. It was not what I expected. Too many movies led me to look for rocks, sand and hills. In fact, this quiet little bend in the Jordan is green and lush; the waters calm and very clear. As I stood beside the Jordan, in my mind s eye I tried to picture the scene: Jesus coming up out of the water, the heavens opening and God speaking, You are my beloved Son; with You I am well pleased. These words come back to me every time I baptize someone. I hope that God speaks these same words each time someone receives the waters of baptism. He spoke them to me. These water words
Cont d from pg. 1: should be as encouraging to us as they were when first spoken to Jesus. Throughout the Christian life, we must remember that we are children of God, sons and daughters of a heavenly Father. He loves us. And He always will. Nothing can separate us from that love. Being washed in the blood of His Son, He is also pleased with us. We have His mark of approval placed upon us in the seal of baptism. When times get difficult, let us return to these water words and find comfort and strength. Something to think about: Which water word do I need to hear today? PRAYER : Father, speak to us again and again throughout our lives with these wonderful words of life. In Jesus name. Amen. 7 Elizabeth Steinmann 12 Gary Morganland 19 Roberta Vega 28 Laura Safar June 15 June 21 June 28 Ken & Edith Myron Jim & Betty Gwinn Ron & Barbara Watterston Monday, June 4 6:30 PM Elders Deacons 7:00 PM Full Consistory Tuesday, June 5 Your opportunity to vote for candidates in primary elections.

He was tired and wanted to die, so he prepared to end his life with one last overdose. Just as he injected a needle into his arm, he realized he had made another bad choice in life. He dropped to his knees and cried out, If there s a God, please take this pain away from me. I ll do whatever you want. Later in a jailhouse, Anthony prayed to receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior. It was the day before his birthday. In the shadow of death =William, a young POW in North Korea =As night approached, a bitter cold began to settle in. William shivered in the darkness, and as he clung to his thin summer jacket, he felt something in his chest pocket. It was a New Testament bearing the Gideon emblem, handed to him by an Army Chaplain shortly before he entered North Korea. The New Testament also included Psalms and Proverbs. The first thing I did was open to Psalm 23, said William. Members of The Gideons International personally witness and distribute God s Word to police, fire, and medical personnel; prisoners; military personnel; students in the fifth grade and above; and to those with whom they interact on a daily basis. Our church supports Gideons International as part of our Missions Budget.
A Sunday School teacher was teaching the Ten commandments to her five & six years olds. After exploring the commandments to honor thy mother and father, she asked, Is there a commandment that teaches us how to treat our brothers and sisters? One little boy shouted Thou shall not kill.
