The Hymn of Praise God, All Nature Sings Thy Glory, #122 4
The Doxology Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heav nly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen. RENEWAL The Call to Renewal Psalm 144:11-15 from New Jerusalem Bible Save me, rescue me from the clutches of foreigners whose every word is worthless, whose right hand testifies to falsehood. May our sons be like plants growing tall from their earliest days, our daughters like pillars carved fit for a palace, our barns filled to overflowing with every kind of crop, the sheep in our pastures be numbered in thousands and tens of thousands, our cattle well fed, free of raids and pillage, free of outcry in our streets. How blessed the nation of whom this is so, blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh! 5
The Sacrament of Covenant Baptism Abigail Naomi & Benjamin Lucas Bely ESV Acts 2:39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself. Gen. 17:7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your offspring after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your offspring after you. Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household. Baptism Questions To the parent: 1. Do you acknowledge your childrens need of the cleansing blood of Jesus Christ, and the renewing grace of the Holy Spirit? 2. Do you claim God s covenant promises in your childrens behalf, and do you look in faith to the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation, as you do for your own? 3. Do you now unreservedly dedicate your children to God, and promise, in humble reliance upon divine grace, that you will endeavor to set before them a godly example, that you will pray with and for them that you will teach them the doctrines of our holy religion, and that you will strive, by all the means of God s appointment, to bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord? To the congregation: Do you as a congregation undertake the responsibility of assisting this parent in the Christian nurture of these children? 6
The Giving of Our Tithes and Offerings* Timothy Hughes Still, My Soul, Be Still by Keith & Kristyn Getty and Stuart Townend COMMITMENT The Reading of God s Holy Word Galatians 6: 11-18 Pew Bible Pg. 11 See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. 12 It is those who want to make a good showing in the flesh who would force you to be circumcised, and only in order that they may not be persecuted for the cross of Christ. 13 For even those who are circumcised do not themselves keep the law, but they desire to have you circumcised that they may boast in your flesh. 14 But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. 15 For neither circumcision counts for anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation. 16 And as for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God. 17 From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers. Amen. The Sermon Pastor Rick Vasquez Sustaining A Fruitful Walk, part 4 Galatians: New Family, New Freedom, New Future *Online giving is also available at skyviewpca.org/giving. 7
The Hymn of Preparation Break Thou the Bread of Life, #146 8
The Confession Prayer for Mercy and Hope Taken from The Valley of Vision Prayer Book O GOD OF GRACE, You have imputed my sin to my substitute, and have imputed his righteousness to my soul, clothing me with a bridegroom s robe, decking me with jewels of holiness. But in my Christian walk I am still in rags; my best prayers are stained with sin; my penitential tears are so much impurity; my confessions of wrong are so many aggravations of sin; my receiving the Spirit is tinctured with selfishness. I need to repent of my repentance; I need my tears to be washed; I have no robe to bring to cover my sins, no loom to weave my own righteousness; I am always standing clothed in filthy garments, and by grace am always receiving change of raiment, for you always justify the ungodly; I am always going into the far country, and always returning home as a prodigal, always saying, Father, forgive me, and you are always bringing forth the best robe. Every morning let me wear it, every evening return in it, go out to the day s work in it, be married in it, be wound in death in it, stand before the great white throne in it, enter heaven in it shining as the sun. Grant me never to lose sight of the exceeding sinfulness of sin, the exceeding righteousness of salvation, the exceeding glory of Christ, the exceeding beauty of holiness, the exceeding wonder of grace. 9
The Sacrament of the Lord s Supper* Communion, also called The Lord s Supper or the Eucharist, is the family meal for Christians. We invite all committed followers of Jesus Christ to partake of this sacrament: those who are baptized members of an evangelical congregation that proclaims the gospel of Jesus Christ, who are at peace with God and with their neighbor, and who seek strength to live more faithfully for Christ. If you are not a Christian, or if you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer. We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with His people, the church. Prayers of Meditation for Those Not Communing If you are unable to receive Communion, please use this time to meditate on one of the following prayers. Prayer for Those Searching for Truth Lord Jesus, you claim to be the way, the truth, and the life. Grant that I might be undaunted by the cost of following you as I consider the reasons for doing so. If what you claim is true, please guide me, teach me, and open to me the reality of who you are. Give me an understanding of you that is coherent, convincing, and that leads to the life that you promise. Amen. Prayer of Belief Lord Jesus, I admit that I am weaker and more sinful than I ever before believed, but through you I am more loved and accepted than I ever dared hope. I thank you for paying my debt, bearing my punishment on the cross, and offering forgiveness and new life. Knowing that you have been raised from the dead, I turn from my sins and receive you as Savior and Lord. Amen. 10 *The communion juice is in the center & the wine is on the outer. *The communion bread is gluten-free.
