Morning Worship February 24, 2019. 8:45 & 11:15 am THE GATHERING Carillon Prelude Sally Westmoreland The Choral Prelude Come, ye disconsolate Terre Johnson (Twentieth Century) Come ye disconsolate, where-e re ye languish. Come to the mercy seat, fervently kneel. Here bring your wounded hearts, here tell your anguish; earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. Joy of the desolate, light of the straying, Hope when all others die, faceless and pure! Here speaks the Comforter, tenderly saying, Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot cure. Here see the Bread of Life, see waters flowing forth from the throne of God, pure from above. Come to the feast of love; come, ever knowing earth has no sorrow but heaven can remove. The Georgia Boy Choir Thomas Moore, 1816 The Greeting We welcome each of you to this service! Please register your attendance on the Ritual of Christian Fellowship. Let us know if you are new, would like to become a member or are interested in more information about Peachtree Road. We pray that this time together will be a blessing in your life. At the sound of the bells, please prepare your hearts and minds for worship. The Choral Introit Psalm 150 Chant: George S. Talbot (sung in procession) (1875-1918) Hallelujah! Praise God in his holy temple; praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts; praise him for his excellent greatness. Praise him with the blast of the ram s horn; praise him with lyre and harp. Praise him with timbrel and dance; praise him with strings and pipe. Praise him with resounding cymbals; praise him with loud clanging cymbals. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Hallelujah! PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING At the Procession,* Hymn 61 Come, Thou Almighty King Italian Hymn Invocation*

Affirmation of Faith* I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord: who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen. The Apostles Creed Gloria Patri * Charles Meineke Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Ritual of Christian Fellowship* ** The people are seated. Ministry of Music Redeemer of Israel Freeman Lewis (1780-1859) arr. Mack Wilberg Redeemer of Israel, our only delight, On whom for a blessing we call, our shadow by day, and our pillar by night, Our King, our Deliverer, our All! We know He is coming to gather His sheep and lead them to Zion in love; for why in the valley of death should they weep or in the lone wilderness rove? How long we have wandered as strangers in sin, and cried in the dessert for Thee! Our foes have rejoiced when our sorrows they ve seen, but Israel will shortly be free. As children of Zion, good tidings for us; the tokens already appear. Fear not, and be just, for the kingdom is ours. The hour of redemption is near. The Georgia Boy Choir William W. Phelps Sacrament of Christian Baptism (11:15 am) Response: With God s help we will so order our lives after the example of Christ, that this child (these children), surrounded by steadfast love, may be established in the faith and confirmed and strengthened in the way that leads to life eternal. Prayer of Dedication Hymn Tune: Stuttgart Child of blessing, child of promise, baptized with the Spirit s sign; with this water God has sealed you unto love and grace divine. Ministry Moment David R. White, Director, Georgia Boy Choir Reception of New Members Concerns and Celebrations of the Congregation Pastoral Prayer The Lord s Prayer

Dan Forrest (b. 1978) I know that my Redeemer lives, what comfort this sweet sentence gives, Shout on, press on, we re gaining ground. The dead s alive, and the lost is found. Glory, hallelujah! He lives to bless me with His love; He lives to plead my cause above; shout on, pray on, we re gaining ground. The dead s alive, and the lost is found. Glory, hallelujah! He livest to crush the fiends of hell; He lives and doth within me dwell; shout on, pray on, we re gaining ground. The dead s alive and the lost is found. Glory, hallelujah! The Georgia Boy Choir At the Presentation* Hymn 95 Tune: Old Hundredth Praise God, from whom all blessings flow; praise Him, all creatures here below; praise Him above, ye heavenly host; praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
